Finally this is done and dusted and we can focus properly on the match itself. Cute_Kerry_Hoor (Kerry) - Posts: 2518 - 06/09/2011 09:35:54 1027964 Link 0 |

FAO Squareball from Donegal."So Dublin players can strike out now and get away with it? Although Marty Boyle did dive, he would not have done so if Connolly did not strike out at him. glenquagmire (Dublin) - Posts: 20 - 06/09/2011 09:51:27 1027990 Link 0 |
I expect that the GAA will come out and publicly apologise to Meath and Brian Farrell for not rescinding his red card from earlier in the year for an infinitely less serious incident. While i do think the red was slightly harsh (although he did stupidly raise his hands), the least you would expect is a little consistency from game to game. Unfortunately it seems that certain teams will be punished more than others for similar offences. Ratoath Royal (Meath) - Posts: 1385 - 06/09/2011 09:55:51 1027998 Link 0 |
like in the case with michael murphy, common sense has prevailed!! however, on the down side of things it has highlighted the inconsistency on the gaa that these 2 red cards were overturned yet brian farrells red card was not!! as_ky (Kerry) - Posts: 535 - 06/09/2011 09:56:06 1027999 Link 0 |

A totally joke, bring yer mind back a couple of years to a kerry v cork national game, kerry and cork had both a player send off, and even done kerry could prove their playerwas innocient , they just wouldn't listen to the appeal, favouritism by the gaa, lookback (Kerry) - Posts: 185 - 06/09/2011 10:00:34 1028003 Link 0 |
Always felt he would get the green light to play - at the time felt he was very unlucky to be sent off. Glad for his sake. traleeexile (Kerry) - Posts: 732 - 06/09/2011 10:01:17 1028004 Link 0 |

Was a soft Red but it was only overturned because it was the Dubs ...I think everything is being done to make sure they win Sam this year! BigJohn.6_8 (Galway) - Posts: 704 - 06/09/2011 10:12:24 1028022 Link 0 |
How many times have we seen Paul Galvin suspended? You do the crime you do the time, simple as. The red card was harsh yes, however for consistency he should have been missed the final. It sets down a precedent where players will think they can get away with it. moomoo (Kerry) - Posts: 4023 - 06/09/2011 10:13:32 1028023 Link 0 |

Liam, what's wrong with you? gigoer (Wexford) - Posts: 1998 - 06/09/2011 10:17:53 1028032 Link 0 |
So now we have a new precedent set by this judgement. If you're sent off for striking someone (regardless of whether its an open fist, a closed fist, a slap with the back of the hand etc) and the person you hit exaggerates the severity of the contact then you can now expect to get your red card overturned. Dangerous ground I think. Also, we're always preached to by the GAA about respecting referees and their decisions yet they obviously disregard their own officials in this case.
