Diarmuid Connollys red card overturned

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

connolly did push the donegal player with his fist, but two donegal playears did the same to him,so it should have been two donegal players off also. It was not a red card, the game is gone bad enough without red cards for a little push.

They were at it against us to, but ye couldnt win a free from the meath ref, he really was a joke. I know we gave away some stupid frees in the last few of extra time(tired bodies) but some cynical fouling in normal time from them and off the ball stuff the ref didnt deal with, and then you had mcguiness coming out and complaining about Kildares "mind games" if anything today highlighted the injustice done to us, and I dont give a f*** whos says get over it and stop whinging Im glad Dublin won. I tell yee that gives me great heart that our side are close, were not that far off. Patience is key and if we keep knockin on the door it will eventually open and we will make the breakthrough witha bit of f***luck which wouldnt go amiss. Looking forward to the final now! who knows could be playing the all Ireland champs in the early stages of leinster in 2012..food for thought!

It's an awfulshame he's gonna miss the All Ireland for such a stupid unnecessary piece of handbags. Had to go though and no way on earth it will be rescinded.

He punched, yes punched, his opponent in the face, what a sad day to see people here defending thuggery in our games, a real shame. He deserved to walk, there is no room for hitting lads in the face in our games.

Its a sad day for gaelic football. Not alone was it painful to watch but the Officials made a big clanger. Connolly gave te Donegal lad a push with his fists but the Ref shod have given a red card to the fella who went down holding his face. What a joke. Getting a fellow player sent off. How low has the game stooped. As a famous ref here in Dublin said to me ye are watching too much soccer. Of course Connolly should get off as Murphy got a red rescinded after being sent off against Cavan.

It was not a punch at all but a push with a closed fist. This RED should be recinded !!

It doesn't matter, he got sent off for a red card offence, that's the rules.

Cheating Donegal tactics! But what goes around comes around, justice was served on behalf of Donegal. Dublin beating Donegal today did gaelic football a huge favour

No punch thrown! No red card! Sad to see Premiership style diving and feigning injury in a Gaa game!

You are playing dangerously having a closed fist near someones face however the Donegal player went down cheaply, a bit of a delayed reaction, poor form.

Like it or not the Donegal system is effective and will bring greater rewards in the future.

Connolly should have had a Donegal player for company when he was sent off
there was no real contact. Aidan O Sheas elbow merited a red card last week
i hope he get it overturned its`sad to see him miss the AI.

The fact that Boyle went down easy should not be considered in any aspect of what happened. Connolly did not have one go at it but two. Are people seriously suggesting that because it was not a knockout punch that it should only be a yellow card? Striking or attempting to strike is a sending off offence. No ifs no buts a red card and he will rightfully be suspended for the final. Its doubtful, however if he would start anyhow given that swinging twice was the height of his input to the game. Rory Kavanagh should also have walked for his strike on Connolly. Secondly, Barry Cahill's cowardly assault on Karl Lacey should also heave been a red card. He was so late it was unreal, he gave it everything and all the while Lacey was wide open. However, as the sending off appeared to hamper Donegal more than anything else. The better team won in the end, however Gilroy should and will have one less selection headache for the final
