I dunno how good its looking for Best. Michael Sherry has been brought out to NZ as a precaution. Could we not just fast-track a passport for Richardt Strauss? :)

1045999 Good man Che.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if your think it's to the betterment of Ireland that we get knocked out by Wales, then that's your opinion.
I think you'll find though, that after 900,000 woke up last week for the Italy game, there may be a few more this week that disagree with you.
Fair play Htaem, good post. It's getting exciting all right and the news on Best seems to be improving. Hopefully he can start at least and see how he fairs from there. Ireland and Wales games over the past few seasons have been notoriously close and i see no difference on Saturday. Another game for ROG i feel though as the kicking game could again be all important.
This is our chance, we've been harping on about the "Golden Generation" of Irish Rugby for the past few years, but this is it. It's our best chance of reaching a Semi and then daring to dream maybe going further. The boys have been nothing short of superb in this World Cup and hopefully now with another push they can drive on and sort the Welsh out.
Only problem now is finding a hospitable bar keep that will open early doors!!!!!
Interesting that mike sherry has been called out to new zealand as a precaution for rory best, hopefully rory is ok as he was super at the weekend and it really messes up munster as it means we have 3 hookers unavailable due to ireland wih jerry injured on irish duty and sherry joining varley in the squad

Don't think we can Breff. We're getting Strauss on residency and i'm sure that doesn't kick in until some stage next year. Nice player to have when it does come through though.
Good luck to Sherry. Jaysus without these Munster produced hookers there'd be no back up at all!!!!!

whats wrong wioth saying im gald a player is injured- we win and lose as an island and that is bigger than any one player, i simply think best is a poor rugby player. the only thing i have ever heard he is good at is scrummaging and in all fairness what has he done in that department above anyone else. cronin is the idea replacement - a dynamic ball carrier who is basically everything best is not. the typical provincial ties on here are laughable to say the least- thank god i rise above that.
on the o gara / sexton thing- its a no brainer and i was right all along as i am always right.
we can beat wales and we should beat wales if a few things happen- we absolutely smash the midfield with 6,7, and 8 at every opportunity, have the welch defence thinking what the hell is goin on here, o gara to ping the corners all day long and sexton to remain on the bench and we are in with a great shot. cronin is an added bonus in that we have another ball carrier.

Ballboy are you still hoping Leamy gets in for Ferris ya? You're knowledge of the game and what is needed has been shown up badly. I'm right, you are wrong, back in the corner now, good boy.

Its wrong to say your glad someone is injured because it is a patheitc cowardly thing to say. Just because you dont like best, doesnt mean you have to wish him to be injured. Rory Best has played quite well in the world cup so far and if you think he is a poor player, thats fine as its your opinion but saying you are glad he is injured gives the impression that you are not a real fan. If cronin is too play he'll have to play his A game as his lineout throwing is dodgy enough at times and while his ball carrying is better, best is a much better scrummager.
O Gara/Sexton issue is not a no brainer, both are needed and will be needed before the tournament is out. We are very lucky to have 2 top class 10s and a coach who knows how to get the best out of them

I think to be fair at the moment i couldn't care less which province you are from, as long as you are playing well.
During the 6 Nations i was pretty scathing of Rory Best and i'm very happy to say his performances in the World Cup have proved me wrong, to such an extent that it will be a blow if he is not fit for Saturday. Sean Cronin will come in and will do a good job in replacing him though, of needed.
As long as on Saturday there are 22 fella's in green ready to give there all and leave everything on the pitch in able to get us through, that's all we want or ask for.

laughable to say the least- were the irish fans not delighted when pocock, moore, carter, steyn, castrogiavani etc were all out injured- YES WE WERE ALL DELIGHTED as it increases our chances just as best being injured does. i couldnt care less about politics or wheer he is from rugby rises abouve that crap so its a non issue, if best being injured gives us a better chance they i wouldnt be a supporter if i did not wish that to happen! christ you would think this is the community games people are on about, its alot more serious than that, so less of the local nonsense, i mean if david humphries could even lace his boots you would have the ulster crowd want him in ahead of sexton and o gara. i think people should just b fair and rounded in their judgement alot like me, its obvious the majority of posters on here havent a clue and this thread as how someone can analyse the scrummaging prowess of a hooker form watching tv is completely beyond me

To be fair you have to rise above provincial ties seeing that there isn't a single Connacht player in the squad. Cronin is a good ball carrier and exceptionally fast for a front rower but his line out worries me greatly, especially as this is one of Wales strengths. I'd hate to break up a winning team but I can't see Best being fit, maybe for the semi if we make it

ah another staker to add to my growing list, its ok Jonny I have a PA that is more than capable of gathering any information i may need. ferris should not have went as he had no form to base any selection on, ferris got very lucky that wallace got injured otherwise he would be sat above in ravenhill for the world cup. so the man got luck because someone else got injured- no if you want to say that that luck has somehow proved you right then 100% be my guest

I am not a rugby fan as such but I do enjoy watching it especially when Ireland are winning. So to you genuine rugby Fans and remember I said GENUINE. Do you believe Ireland can beat Wales on Saturday? and should they win do they have any real chance of progressing to the final.

Ferris was always going to the world cup once he proved he was someway fit. stop posting rubbish about rugby as the rubbish you post draws stupid remarks from some posters here

OK the quarter finals;
The big 1 first Ireland will beat Wales in a tight game 1 score between the teams.
New Zealand Will deal with Argentina fairly comfortably min 12pts
England will beat France in another tight game. They always do the French when it matters. Again 1 score between the teams
South Africa will beat Australia margins in the regions of 5 to 10pts. The Aussies are not the force they once were and i just think the South Africans will have enough to turn them over.
Semis
Ireland will beat England in a tight game with Ronan staring and sending home Mr Johnson and friends.
New Zealand will beat South Africa in the other Semi by about 10pts.
So we have an Ireland, New Zealand final IMO
I will make my predictions at a later date for this big day!!!

i would perfer NZ over anyone else in a final- the pressure on them will be like no other sports team in the history of sport and i could see them imploding and what we would be guarnteed is that games againt the pumas and the sringboks will deplete the NZ squad even more, if mc caw didnt make a final alongside carter - i reckon we would take them!
