Well done to Mayo for doing what Down could not do. Cork appear to have the annihilation of Down last week to get to their heads. I'd love to see you beat Kerry in the semi to reach the final. Good luck. Well deserved.

Very pleased with the win against Cork today. It was an interesting game in the sense that Mayo showed a tremendous toughness, both physically and mentally that I believe Cork didn't really expect and I think that threw Cork off their game.

Leading by 1-4 to a single point at about the 10 min mark it would have been easy for Mayo to hang their heads, but they didn't, they stuck at it and started to grind it out in the middle third and then mac's goal and a splendid one it was too. Even when Cork hit back, they didn't panic.
Mayo just hounded Cork all day and never let them get easy shots or scores, hence the dismal second half tally from Cork.

Fair play to JH, he's a low key guy, very calm and I think that came through in Mayo's team performance today.

Well done Mayo!

Congrats to Mayo. By far and away the better side. Should have had Cork beaten out the gate half way through the second half. From that point of view, they'll have to improve massively to beat Kerry.

Not sure this is as big a shock in Cork as it is outside. Two pundits on Cork radio predicted that Cork could easily be caught by Mayo. everybody agreed that they could not win the AI. I thought Down would be their undoing. Look lads, take any team that ever existed, now remove three forwards, take away a back up forward, remove a midfield option, and put the captain carrying an injury - now can that team really expect to win an AI?

Good news is that Walsh came through unscathed and can concentrate on U21 hurling. The amount of injuries that the footballers have been picking up over the last two seasons must be a serious cause for concern though. Are they doing something wrong in training - or just unlucky?

Well done Mayo, fantastic performance full of guts and nice football. What I admired most about their victory was not their style of football but the fact that the players purposely remained calm after the final whistle and didnt run around celebrating like they had won the all-ireland. Hopefully that's a sign that they know there are bigger tests ahead and they will put it up to Kerry in the semis.

Hard luck to Cork, injuries caught up on them. Probably best team in Ireland since 2009, they'll be back.

Never in my life was i as proud to be a Mayo man as yesterday. Absolute class, guts and great football, what more can ya ask for. Mayo despite what people say have given some great memories down the years but this was the sweetest for me and most Mayo people.

On a sidenote, one thing on HS i notice is the bitter posts by the Meath boys, i find this funny as ye came up ( Meath people in general) in a conversation yesterday, no matter how people dress it up, it all boils down to history and the land, grow up lads and deal with it. We are Mayo, the finest of people. Wooooooooooooohooooo

Genuine congratulations to Mayo, absolutely no complaints, ye were fully deserving winners on the day. James Horan is one of the best young managers in the game and his team were a credit to their county. If we had to lose to anyone yesterday then I wouldn't look much further than Mayo, a fine footballing county and their supporters were extremely gracious in victory. Best of luck for the rest of the year.

You mustn't have been watching the Dubs against Tyrone last year then because that was the most defensive performance I have ever seen (and that includes Donegal and Tyrone/Armagh at their worst). I took a number of pics on my phone showing ALL 15 Dublin players in their own half at times and usually 13 in their own half for Tyrone kickouts. They never tried to tackle Tyrone in their own half they waited until they got to the half way line. Pot kettle black

didn't get to see the game yesterday, thought someone was on the wind up when they said Mayo won, fair play to ye, great performance by all accounts. WAs at the Londdon game and you would have got very long odds that day on Mayo reaching AI semi
