Any other county boundary towns

You've also got the same situation in Waterford, at three parts of the county. In the city, it is unclear where the boundry with Kilkenny lies. Ferrybank GAA club is in Waterford, but it is believed that the bounrdy crosses over many times over the pitch itself! The Kilkenny part of Ferrybank is also one of the largest population centres in Kilkenny also.

Up towards Carrick on Suir on the Tipperary border is the Kinsalebeg parish, where St Mollerans hail from. Again a lot of debate about where the boundry lies.

Further up again in the Nire Valley which isn't too far from Clonmel, some players who line out for both the Nire club and for the Waterford teams may technically come from Co. Tipperary.

Ballaghaderreen has to be the most contentious. They do everything in Roscommon - vote, pay rates... except GAA.
Ballinasloe - big part of it on the Roscommon side of the river but its in Galway
Athlone - no GAA club on the western side.
Clonmellon Co Westmeath - play their GAA in Meath.

ispeakwisdom - how do people in roscommon feel about the ballagh issue? - you can see why the people wanted to play with mayo when suddenly theie town was "MOVED" into roscommon all those years ago. however you can also see why roscoomon people might be upset about it.

i belive co.sligo originally came right up to the banks of the moy in ballina town also.

Ringo is really on the ball re the Tipperary/Waterford connection. Carrick on Suir has 3 GAA clubs, with Carrick Swans and Carrick Davins playing in Tipperary and St. Molleran's in Waterford. This is widely known. The Clonmel area is interesting too. I always heard that the great Waterford Ladies Football team that won 5 All Irelands in the 1990's had a couple of Tipperary girls on the team. There seems to be a sort of "dual citizenship" in the Clonmel and The Nire areas and hurlers and footballers can end up playing for either county. The Moneygall situation is well know, while Carrig & Riverstown is in Tipperary, but play in the Offaly Championship. I still think that Graiguecullen is the most interesting of all. The club has won several Senior Football Championships in both Carlow and Laois.

Good point about the Lagan divide in Belfast. I work very close to the bridge over the Lagan into the Short Strand.

On a separate point, I read something interesting in the Gaelic Life. Kilclief, Ardglass & Saul are joining together to compete at the Senior level. Carryduff, Bredagh & St. Paul's might follow. I've recently signed up to membership of Carryduff club, even though I live in the area that Eire Og in Antrim covers.

Parteen is in Co. Clare (and proud of it I would assume), but effectively in Limerick city.

Great rivalry in Arva in south Cavan. Counties Leitrim and Longford both converge on the town. Three provinces.

Wicklow border a few counites but the topical one is Kildare, ahead of tomorrows game.
Blessington,Dunlavin,Grangecon and Baltnglass all border the county.

Hollywood borders it too and shares its parish with Ballymore, which is in Kildare.

Both clubs provide a player each for tomorrows game with Hollywood's Tony Hannon playing wing forward for Wicklow and Ballymore's James Kavanagh playing corner forward for Kildare.

2 players, 2 clubs, same parish, different counties....

Up Wicklow!!

It's funny around Ballaghadreen when half the kids growing up support Mayo and half Roscommon. Makes for a decent bit of banter/fights on game week.

It gets interesting when the Ballagh players, some who are die-hard Ros supporters, graduate on to play Mayo. I can think of a few cases of that on current Mayo panels

As Auldfella said, the area around the town of Arva in County Cavan has to be the most unique in this regard. Not only do the three counties of Longford, Cavan and Leitrim converge on each-other here, but the three provinces of Leinster, Ulster and Connacht all join with each-other. Something no other part of Ireland can lay claim to. The Arva club in Cavan and the Dromard club in Longford are very close to each-other, however I dont think there is a Leitrim club in this tri-border area?!

Kilcock is on the Kildare/Meath Border. One side of the bridge all the playersplay for Blackhall Gaels Co. Meath while on the other side its Kilcock Co. KIldare. Some Rivalery in that town between the two counties. And many meath players have went to school there!

the parish of kingscourt is divided between cavan, and possibly monagan though I may be wrong with that. I monaghan is only a short distance from the town. also Louth is only out the road a bit too. recently all the teams within a small radius were county champions. magheracloone in monaghan, mattock rangers in louth, kingscourt in cavan and kilmainhamwood in Meath.
