Ulster Championship 2011

This years championship is shaping up to be a real good one, with any county been able to win it so who's your money on people?

Will be competetive as always but the standard of Ulster football is pretty poor at the minute, as bad as I can remember. The heady days of Tyrone/Armagh and Derry/Down/Donegal seem far off distant memories. Leinster and Munster are well ahead at the minute.

I hope the competitiveness is better in Ulster this year! 1998 since Armagh/Tyrone didn't win Ulster so would be nice to see a new winner.

Competitive as always?

2010-Tyrone
2009-Tyrone
2008-Armagh
2007-Tyrone
2006-Armagh
2005-Armagh
2004-Armagh
2003-Tyrone
2002-Armagh
2001-Tyrone
2000-Armagh
1999-Armagh

12 years have produced 2 winners, people called the all ireland hurling championship uncompetitive but it is marginally better with 3 winners in that time.
In reality it is connacht that could be called the most competitive- 4 different winners in 4 years

10 years of Dominating Ulster I think Armagh and Tyrone need a fresh challenger Donegal have the handicap of playing a preliminary round, Antrim one hit wonders, and Monaghan still have the capability and quality to win in Ulster but I think Down will have learned a lot from last year and could take Ulster.

You're not far wrong Ulsterman, theres no stand out team in Ulster at the moment, certainly one that could challenge for Sam although I live in hope.

You're being a wee bit disrespectful there Fortyfive. Antrim , I think everyone accepts were massively handicapped by injuries this year. Anyway I think they will give a good account of themselves against Donegal. With a fit squad Antrim aren't that far off Armagh , Monaghan, Donegal and Derry. Maybe I'm being optimistic , but I suppose we will see over the next few years boy.

I'll put my neck on the chopping block and go for an Antrim win tomorrow.

Antrim have decent footballers who on their day can give any team a game. It's just a shame they don't bring a decent travelling support with them, that would be a big bonus.

No doubt Ulster is the most competitive championship, it may not be the best football but there aren't too many easy games

I think Tyrone will face Down in the Ulster final.

Antrim always have a chance as they have the best free taker in ireland in their ranks in Paddy Cunningham!

No. Hungover and looking forward to watching Joe Brolly on the telly, I will however be heading to Armagh to watch the Mourne Machine duff the orangemen two weeks from now. Best of luck to Antrim, I hope they win today.
