Disgraceful comment. If you ever saw kerry play i'm sure you'd know we have some fine hurlers in this county who give everything for the developement of the game. It's hard to garner interest when the footballers are so successful. You dont have that problem in galway as you're so used to dual mediocrity.

I've yet to hear anyone from Galway say they want or aspire to win the Leinster Championship.
Instead of using the Leinster Championship as a tool to give Antrim and Galway more games, they could move Laois, Carlow, Westmeath and Kerry or Wicklow to Connaught and Ulster Championships. Carlow v Kerry/Wicklow could play-off to play Galway in a Connaught final. Laois v Westmeath could play-off to play Antrim in an Ulster final.
All 4 provincial winners then could have home tie in a quarter-final against 1 of 4 qualifiers. Munster and Leinster champions to be seeded to that their in seperate sides of the draw until the all-ireland final. When more counties join then, they could join either Ulster or Connaught.

I hope you're right that we do get up. If we are lucky enough to win on the day and re-join the Munster Championship, no matter what happens there, there will be games against Carlow/Westmeath in the qualifiers to find our level.

Well if the plan is to cap the McCarthy at 16 counties the year after next, the championship could take the shape of the following example for the qualifier stages:

Agree with you hear it actually might be a whole lot better for Wicklow not to win same as Kerry last year, they should try and stay in Div 2 next year then they would be better ready to play in Leinster

Whatever about the structures and all that, what's the verdict for Saturday?

I think it's a tough one to call. Wicklow following from their league success, similar to Kerry last year, were always going to be a contender this year. It's going to be a tough game for either county to win.

Will the winning county take the option to join the McCarthy Cup next year. I'm not sure Kerry are ready. When they get over a Munster Championship game though, they can look to compete with Carlow and Laois in the qualifier. With that in mind I think they should go for it. I'd be less sure on Wicklow. They'll need at least two season in division 2. Kerry will get their second next year having retained their Division 2 status. If either county on winning doesn't join, they run the risk of not winning next year and spending more time than they want in the Christy Ring Cup.
