The RTE radio commentator reckoned one of Robert Kellys points yesterday against Meath wont be beaten this year in terms of quality. OffalyBigBall (Offaly) - Posts: 635 - 21/03/2011 15:58:13 893076 Link 0 |

Has to be Ciaran Careys point against Clare in 2006. Clare had the match won. Or so they thought. Limerick levelled deep in injury time and then up steps Carey and weaved his way through several Claremen and scored the sweetest point that I've ever seen. Pure magic. creb (Limerick) - Posts: 131 - 23/03/2011 11:12:16 894467 Link 0 |
In fairness there have been great scores over the past few years in hurling and football. In hurling, Ciaran carey broke my heart as a clareman in 1996 and anyone who was there will remember it as an unbelievable score. also remember diarmuid o sullivans from just outside his own 21 in the munster championship. Jamesie o connor scored an amazing point in 1997 in the All ireland final to beat tipp from a long distance on the run from the sideline. Ger loughnane stood beside the umpire jumping up and down as it sailed over, amazing score. Joe canning scored a sideline from about 80 yards in a fitzgibbon final for LIT against WIT a few years ago in one of the greatest games ever played and was the best sideline cut ive ever seen. But my personal favourite was also against Clare but in 2002, DJ made an **** of ollie baker on the sideline before stroking the ball over off the hurley. it was poetry in motion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH7qqwZlJn4 mrbinman (Offaly) - Posts: 29 - 23/03/2011 14:09:30 894628 Link 0 |
Colm Bradley Point in the back door game against Meath in 2004, don't think there is any film of it but its the best point i've ever seen live. Was the Last kick of the game to bring it level. Any meath people out there remember it? Greenandwhite23 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 76 - 23/03/2011 15:13:05 894724 Link 0 |

Some super scores there but i feel Mcdonalds score to win the AI semi against Dublin in 06 was outstanding, wrong side of the pitch with the left foot.He started the move, ran 70 yards, got the pass back and stuck it over into the hill! jono (Mayo) - Posts: 350 - 24/03/2011 12:24:37 895469 Link 0 |

Actually the TG4 program on the 25 greatest points of all time was very good and accurate. Hard to argue with any of the selections except DJ point against Clare. He has scored many great points which could (and should)have been include but that wasn't one of them, it was a point that was scored under no pressure after the defender had fallen and was only remenbered because a commentator who knows nothing about hurling went on about it. onlyhurling (Galway) - Posts: 800 - 24/03/2011 12:54:31 895492 Link 0 |
