Ah no, in all seriousness I know how they must be feeling, looking out on those scenes of carnage.
I remember the horror of waking up to find two fence panels needed replacing after storms over the christmas.

Jim you are just displaying how neanderthal you are now, probably down the pub last night showing all the texts on your Eircell 088 phone.

Jokes or no jokes people died in the disaster that occurred.

Rode-Jim, if you think that is funny then it is you who needs to have a chat with yourself.

Admins

are you really going to allow Rode-Jim to post jokes about the Tsunami disaster in Japan? Is it beyond the realms of possibility that anyone from Japan could view the pages on this board?

How will it look if one absolute redneck mucksavage from Offaly is allowed to tarnish the reputation of Irish people with his narrow minded thoughts on a natural disaster?

Will ye have a think about this please?

Thanks. Slayer.

Hag, I have already pulled up Admin about this poster and one disgusting post in particular referring to the events of bloody sunday which was deleted pronto. Admin has a difficult enough task sorting through the traffic but there are occasions when tasteless and insulting posts make it through.

Especially in regards to these people being killed in a horriffic natural disaster.

I'm with the Dhorse on this one

Is the joke in poor taste Yes
is it offensive Yes
But is it clearly a joke Yes

The Joke thread on the main forum has hundreds of jokes that are offensive to ethnic minorities, victims of disasters, people with disabilities, Lesbians etc etc etc
but they are jokes - how offensive they are comes down to proximity to the event and personal taste

so to be honest I don't have a problem with Jims post and take it for what it is - A joke -
However there are plenty posts that are not made in jest that are Xenophobic - Racist - Sectarian etc etc and these are the ones posters should take exception to.

Exactly Rua and that is where such 'jokes' should be posted - on the JOKES thread. Not on this thread where people are offering their sympathies for those affected by this terrible occurance.

And Rhodejim absolutely tasteless I don't know why I expected anything better from you

All I've seen on this thread is people talking about multiple posters. It's a harmless joke, who cares

To be fair to rhodejim there are 'jokes' already being sent around about about this disaster. It is wrong, so wrong but that is human nature unfortunately. The Germans had a word for it schadenfraude - taking pleasure at others discomfort; it has been around since the beginning of time. Let's be honest many people will not own up to loving the bloke/girl across the desk/workplace getting a bollocking from the boss. As long as it's not us or doesn't affect us we take quiet satisfaction or see humour in tragic situations. Many of us, at the core, are selfish and if incidents like Japan don't really impinge on us and we don't experience the human suffering we end up joking about it. Much of the British media and political Establishment laughed at the Irish during the Famine and many lampooning cartoons were published mocking the 'lazy Irish'. The human race is the most unkind of all.
