Still thinking about this.

If I go back to 1963, my first all Ireland final at Croke, I MUST include John Doyle, Jimmy Doyle and Pat Henderson.

If I start from 1970, like most have, it is really difficult.

Sheflin, DJ and Keher MUST be in the forward line, and JBM, Cooney and Cregan are very string candidates for the other three places. But then ye think of Nicky, Billy Fitzpatrick, PJ Delaney of Kilkenny, Johnny Dooley etc etc etc.

One thing I must say. You cannot have Whelehan at centre back, simply because he was not very good there. Right half yes, but centre ye have Ger Henderson, Corcoran, Mcmahon, Keady and others with a better shout tyhan Brian.

Great great player, but alas Tommy Might be better and we are asking for the best team, rather than best 15 individuals.

Ciaran carey was a fine player but no way is he the finest centre back ever. I know I played Brian Whelehan out of position but I couldn't not have him, JJ and Tommy on the team. Didn't he play his club hurling in taht position anyway?

they cant pick the best players for a year in the all stars so picking one for the last 40 years just a no brainer ,
