GAA Highlight of the Year

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Incredible year,

1) The feeling after beating Meath in Croke Park, no Dermot earley, kavanaghs goal, best day of the summer!

2) 2 All stars (John Doyle...what a man, Peter Kelly, amazing prospect for future!)

3) Dermot Earley's display against Antrim and the raw emotion of that day.

4) The nights out in graces, Naas after matches!!!

On a personal level i would go with kerry beating cork in the munster semi final replay. We've had a terrible record in cork in recent years and it was nice to get a win up there. It is some anticlimax though to have a munster semi final win as the highlight of the year.

On a national level there is only 1 choice. Tipperary's display in this years final was 1 of the greatest hurling displays i've ever seen. For passion, commitment, skill and belief i have to say it was 1 of the finest perfprmances i've seen in any sport and considering who they were playing.

On a personal level it was Dublin hammering Tyrone in the all Ireland championship. The TACTICS and BEHAVIOUR of the Tyrone FANS and PLAYERS left a bad taste in many people in THE south.

Tyrone minors coming back from the dead against Mayo in the semi-final. Great game of football.

Still Hurts doesn't Ogall Tyrone Hammering Mayo at Minor level over the last couple of years and then Mayo getting humiliated by Kerry in 97'04' and again in 06 time for you to get your Tactics right for a change. Tir Eoghain abú!

It probably shows how sad a life that you live when your highlight is someone else getting beat. Personally mine was the All-Ireland semi between Dublin and Cork, atmosphere in the stadium was unreal and a truly exciting game of football.

Thats why Benny is one of the greatest. He ill never be forgotten. I would say hes the best in Ireland at the minute also better than Brogan. Coulter has an all round game and is a total team player. He scored the goal against Donegal thae was back on his own goalline fielding the ball, helping the defence out. A True great

1. Bernard Brogan

2. Dublin beating Armagh, getting that monkey off our back.

3. Downs rise in the champo especially the day they beat Kerry. Didn't see that coming.

4. The style that Kildare beat meath in.

And lastly, Dublin beating Tyrone. The atmosphere on the hill and indeed in the stadium. I walked up clonliffe ave before the match full sure we would be hammered and I walked back down clonliffe road in a daze after the match. I wish I could bottle that feeling.
