Paul Galvin - Late Late Show

Interesting interview, anyone see this? I'm a big fan of him, up there as one of the best footballers in Ireland. I like that he is different. What do you think yourselves?

Here is the link if you havn't yet seen it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7UMwv8GpJo&feature=player_embedded#!

His macho image as a footballer in in contrast to his feminine love of fashion. Still not sure what to make of him, As a footballer he is the best, but I find it hard to respect him in any other way.

The provocation and abuse paul galvin has to put up with every time he plays is ridiculous. The odd time he reacts he's lambasted over it. The sunday games treatment of him this year was ridiculous and probably cost kerry an all ireland. If he was a premier league player he'd be on a 100 grand a week and treated as a hero and a celebrity. Instead as a player who plays purely for the love of his county he is portrayed as a villian and dissected on a personal level. Having met him myself i have to say he is a credit to his family as a sportsman and a person and hopefully someday will get the wide level respect he deserves.

Let's just imagine that in your paralell universe RTE decided for whatever reason to ignore the Galvin-Cadogen incident. Are you honestly coming on here and suggesting that this cost a team that was beaten in the quarter final an All-Ireland?

And then once you answer that then try and imagine a scenario where both the Galvin and Tomas O'Se incidents were dealt with at the time by the respective referees (which they should have been) and both players were sent off. Please then talk me through how this would have changed your summer for the better.

I felt it was a very uncomfortable interview. Galvin never seemed relaxed.

As a player he's combative, that's his nature/ If you take that away you take away what makes him great. To be honest I could not care if he likes fashion or what he likes, if this guy was a Limerick man I'd love him on my team. He plays on the edge, he's a winner & he said it last night - he would not go back to college now as he is a footballer & in Kerry that's everything,

He can be a hothead, he can be foolish, childish but he is a superb footballer & although I didn't enjoy the interview his winning mentality shone out like a beacon.

In the galvin cadogan incident the referee was clearly watching the whole thing and chose,as is his right to do nothing about it. Why did the gaa undermine their their referee? Also why did the sunday game/gaa focus on this incident only when for example derek kavanagh clearly throttled the gooch. Tomas o se, who i never mentioned in the first place, was deservedly punished but excessively banned. As for how these incidents clearly wrecked our all ireland chances? paul galvin-footballer of the year 2009, tomas o se -footballer of the year 2004 -nominated footballer of the year2009

No harm dellboy, but I'd have a lot more issues with a few of your lads than Galvin. The man comes in for some serious abuse, on and off the field. While i don't condone his actions, i can see why he reacted like he did in some of the cases.

Not sure what all the media hype about Galvin is about. He's a decent footballer but there are far better footballers out there. He frequently crosses the line too when he plays and has deserved all the bans he got. Can't understand why the media care - Brian Dooher, Padraig Joyce, Bernard Brogan to name a few are far better palyers than him.

You didn't answer my question. In your first post you said it cost you an All-Ireland, not that it wrecked your chances.

No matter what anyone thinks of Galvin off the field id safely say if we were all to pick a first 15 off inter county footballers 99% of us would have Galvin at number 12..his passion and drive to win the dirty ball and set up attacks is unreal..he does play on the borderline at times but thats what makes him one of the countrys greatest players..

Paul Galvin is trying to live of his reputation now..Plus lets just say him and Donal Og Cusack could be good buddies judging by Ryan Tubridys lack of questioning on the matter of relationships..why did he quit as a teacher?or was he forced put of that job?

It did cost us an all ireland because of the reasons stated. Lets be honest, the gaa dont want kerry winning every year,it's bad for the brand. That's why they pick on kerry,i.e paul galvin's "reputation".

I'd like to put a suggestion to the Kerry GAA, which is to employee a camera man specifically to follow Paul Galvin's every move on the pitch.

So the next time RTÉ decides to single out and highlight certain parts of Galvin's on field behaviour they themselves will be in a very good position to defend him if they feel that he is being targeted unfairly by the state broadcaster.

I believe Galvin has been the subject of more than your normal run of the mill scrutiny by RTÉ.

Proevo good to see the knuckle draggers are still alive and well!

Galvin is a class player, smugadons on the Sunday game are poor in comparison.
Galvin is a top player and compares well with his peers, the Sunday (ahem)"analysts" compare very badly with other analysts.

Proevo, some very unfair and unnecessary comments there. When one does not know the answer to a question one is best served by staying quiet.
