Just watched the last 16 matches from the Lakeside and i have to say that the Thompson- Norris match must have been one of the worst ever to be seen in a 'supposedly' World Championship. Now in this great tournement we are faced with a quarter final involving one lad whos highest average is 85, and the other who's is 78. Compare that to the proper world championship.

Have to agree with you 890202, apart from a couple of matches it has been car crash Darts at the Lakeside so far. I watched all three matches last night, the first was dreadful, the second was ok, and the third, involved a player who twice attempted to finish on the wrong number! It is time to stop all this and get the sport unified, cos its an insult to Adie Lewis when someone is crowned a 'world champion' on Sunday. There are four or five good players in the BDO, but the general standard this year has been woeful. My bet is Scott Waites will join the PDC soon cos he seems to get dragged down by the poor standard of the BDO. Having seen the progress Anderson and Webster have made in the last couple of years, I'd imagine he'll be thinking he could be the same.

Yes any self respecting darts player who wants to be the best that they can be will join the PDC. The likes of Martin Adams and Ted Hankey are decent players but they are too cosy in the BDO because they know that year in year out they have a brilliant chance of winning it. I don't mind a player starting off in the BDo such as Webster did and using it as a stepping stone but it is not the pinnacle of the darts world as Adams seems to think.

Its terrible sure. even though it is interesting to see who gets to the final every year but really if people regard the winner of the BDO as a world champion then they don't know much about darts

Well who will leave the BDO now? It was painful to look at Adams being handed the cup and being told he was with Lowe, Bristow and Barneveld as the only ones to win 3 world championships. THey won't even acknowledge Phil Taylor's 13 PDC world championship wins.

the standard of bdo final was chronic lots of missed doubles terrible darts been thrown i had to turn tv off as was so bad i remember one leg it took adams 21 darts to win adams has been invited so many times to join the pdc but refuses as i guess he realises he hasnt a chance of winning anything if he does

It just goes to show how insular and ignorant the BDO are. The PDC acknowledge the BDO and David Croft has mentioned the PDC on a number of occasions during his commentary, but the BDO seem intent on sticking their head in the sand and pretending that nothing else exists out of their organisation.

In fairness Adams is a good player and the top few in the BDO are of a decent standard but once you get to the lower seeds and the qualifiers the standard is really terrible. It was a joke that somebody as bad as Fleet managed to qualify for a world championship.
