Delighted for Dolan. He put in a great performance last night. I know Painter was terrible but you can only beat whats put in front of you. As regards the whole PDC BDO debate, I'm solidly in the PDC camp. I think the BDO is poorly run. I still watch the Lakeside but i had to laugh at a moment at last years Lakeside Championsip. Was watching a game "behind the red button" on the BBC and after the game finished Martin Fitzmaurice came on and announced "and now the moment you've all been waiting for....... The Raffle". It said it all for me really

There are lots of competitions that both players play in, the uk open is one off the top of my head. Any competition where there is an entry fee both pdc and bdo players can enter. The world darts league and international darts trophy had started to invite pdc players in their last few years. The pdc guys won the trophies, even having both finalists. As for waites, im not disrespecting him at all, he is inconsistant and can be very average when out of form, which is more often than the top pdc guys.

Where have i said that the standards are the same lads? Do ye not read posts or something? I've said that the gap has narrowed massively in the last 8 years and that the top few players in the BDO could more than hold their own in the PDC!!! Selective reading at it's best!

That isnt what you said, you said: The BDO players are mostly part time and they can more than hold their own against the PDC boys, (remember Scott Waites?) and while about 8 years ago the standard difference was massive but not now. There are a lot of players in the PDC, and from what i have seen a lot of players that would struggle in the BDO to be honest!

More than hold their own? That means just as good if not better doesnt it? Then you say guys in the pdc would struggle in the bdo. If the bdo guys can more than hold their own, and the pdc guys would struggle, how can that mean that the pdc is still better?

As for the bdo being respectful, ted hankey gets as bad abuse as anyone in the pdc

Final word on it for TheMaster. When i said that there were a lot of PDC players that would struggle in the BDO i meant the lower seeded players and qualifiers and obviously not the top players, i thought that would have been clear for interpretation however if i was not clear enough then i apologise. You expect that though when you have 72 players playing in the tournament.

I have to say though, in my opinion the best thing to happen to the BDO was the formation of the PDC, as someone said on here it was the PDC popularised darts and brought it back to the everyday person on the street (with Sky obviously). I am a darts player and a darts fan, of both codes, just because i speak up for the BDO you people seem to think that i hate the PDC, completely untrue!

2 big shocks last night, Van Gerwin & Klaasen really struggle to make an impact in this tournament. Saying that Steve Brown is a quality player and will be knocking on the door of the top 4 in no time. Klaasen has only been past the first round once in his career with the PDC and i'm amazed that he hasn't become more consistant since making the switch.

Really felt for Mansel last night, he's no mug of a player and just seemed to freeze a bit against Ridd and it was a pity to see Ridd not give Van Der Voort a better run, i think it's a major disadvantage for the Prelim players to be playing again on the same night.

The Bull done his best to let young Cullen back in their match, i really like Jenkins as a player and hopefully he'll get a bit of a run in this years tournament again, i'd love to see him break his duck and claim the title!

Shocked to see that 3 of the big Dutch players are out in the first round, it'll be interesting to see just how Barneys mind is for his match tonight but i don't see him getting knocked out though (famous last words).

Match of the night for me is Bates Vs McDine with Bates coming through!

Really enjoyed the Jenkins Cullen match last night. Great drama and excitement. Thought Cullen did brilliantly against a very experienced opponent. Couldn't believe it when they said Cullen only started pitching spears 5 years ago!

Freddy Flintoff was brilliant in the commentary booth too.

Silverfox- I don't think Klaasen or Van Gerwn will ever have the consistancy to challenge for the major titles until they slow down their throw. I know its probably their natural throwing style but its easily countered by a slow player. Imagine any one of them playing Priestly. They wouln't stand a chance i reckon. What do you think?

Yes Andrew Flintoff brilliant last night. I don't think Klaasen will ever make it and to be fair i think his lakeside win in 2006 was a pure fluke, he is not able to produce the big averages regularly over a long period.

agreed flintoff was brilliant ,i think the problem with klassen and van goran and even van der vort is that they are ok when they are throwing early in the leg because its bang bang bang but when it comes down to the doubles they fall did anyone see van der vort trying to finish a leg last night he must have had 15 darts at a double

Very disappointed with the dutch contingent so far with the exception of Van Der Voort obviously. I alway thought that Van Gerwen and Klassen can be brilliant but lack consistancy and I was very surprised by Stompe, I really thought he'd have a good run after the world cup but there you go. Looking for a big preformance from Barney tonight but don't be suprised to see the head shake again later if things start going against him.

Barney looked unconvincing last night, At the moment Gary Anderson looks the best bet for the title going on first round form but of course there is still a long way to go. Hopefully Dennis Priestley has a good run this year, a legend of the game who despite being in his 60's is still up there with the best.

Great day at the Darts yesterday afternoon. Three good matches, not the highest standard, but good to see nonetheless. The Peter Wright victory was a bit of a surprise, but Nicholson seemed more intent with playing to the crowd. Good performances from Webster and Thornton though. Webster seems suited to set play rather than straight legs.

The biggest up set of this years championship with the exit of WADE to an unknown, WADE's throwing was awful seemed to snatch at his darts .

Anderson could be a dark horse but outside Taylor, Webster is the man to beat.

Great match between Priestley and Anderson, its a pity that the drew each other as both would have surely gone much further. losing with nearly a 100 average is very rare and unlucky for Dennis

Just watched Adrian JACKPOT Lewis cruise threw to the last 16 throwing some incredible darts and ton plus finishes , I think the afternoon session suited him today the lack of lager fuelled hecklers were nowhere to be seen,if he is able to play like that again it could be his title .
