displays to match that one in hurling.

as for the football Willie Bryans display in the replay of the 1972 final again kerry he gave mick o'connell

Apart from Rackard in 1954 there have been many individual performances in games.

And it is not simply about scoring, as Tipperary this year had about 5 players individually who outshone Lar on the day. lar hit three balls, they were all goals. A few Tipp lads hurled a lot more than 3 balls.

Some of Kehers displays were memorable, but 1972 may have been his best. Babs in 1971 comes to mind as well. DJ in 2000 when he won the game in the first ten minutes, and some of Frank Cummings displays stand out.

In football, Fitzgerald in 97, Joyce in 01, and many many more. Canavan in 95 scored a lot of frees, deadly, but then that was from frees rather than play.

The one that really stands out for me would be Wee James in 91, and then Crowley for Kerry in 1970.

there's no doubt that peter is the one of the greats but 1 point from play that day doesn't win this one.

That's why the experts have doubts about Nicky. He looked great against Antrim and poor Waterford teams in those days, but never did a lot when it mattered against Sylvie of Hennessy of Kilkenny.

In 89 Jim Nelson decided he was going to beat tipp with superior "stick work", meaning skill.

The rest of the county knew that Ger Rogan, brother of Martin who now boxes, should have marked Nicky.

Tipp, being the hungrier team to end the famine, would have won, but no way would Nicky have scored 2-12.

I agree - his performance was phenomenal. Remember he was very sick with the flu leading up to the game and was doubtful right up to the throw-in. He was also playing completely out of position and yet he totally dominated the game. This was the best individual display I've seen bar none.
