you are the nationality of the palace you were born i.e. the laws you are governed under and to whom you pay your taxes to- in (london)derry is this paid/laws to westminster or to dublin? you will find your answer. Going by people on here you can be watever nationality you chose - can i be jamacian so? ive never set foot in the place but sure that doesnt matter according to you lot- laughable argument this is- if your irish how much tax did you pay to dublin last year? its alot simplier when ya leave the nostalgic bull out of it. Some of the arguments are like those all painted in green on paddys day in new york claiming they are irish - funny if nothing else

I was born in the UK but my passport says my nationality is Irish. It's what's in the blood that counts.

I can not argue that given the current regime I am a british Subject. I have no qualms with that whether I like it or not ( which I dont) I am subject to British laws and the British Crown this situation has been forced upon me and Generations of Derry people before me history accepts this. What i am not however is a citizen of Britain , I could become a British citizen if I wished but I do not wish this I have chosen to be and remain a citizen of Ireland and this is something which is enshrined in the Good Friday or for you Pomeroy Plunket The Belfast agreement. So really we must define citizenship from Subjugation.

so if you hold a irish passport which means you are a irish citizien , right , so then how can you tell our neighbouring county derry that they are british , some how that just does not come across right , i am not tyring to insult you , i am merely reflecting on a theory how one county in ireland is less irish than the other one . i do not get , i am irish and hold a irish passport , my neighbours in derry is also irish , to say we are different is well .

Unfortunately the lad with the biggest gun can subjugate the weaker opponent. Britain was the Yard bully for many centuries and subjugated a great portion of the worlds population Against the will of the indigenous populations, Irish people among them. It is no shame to be an unwilling subject. It is a shame to be a willing participant in the subjugation of your fellows.

Worth mentioning they also gave us football and rugby. Of course none of the anti - british campaigners on here play either of these, or speak the english language...!

Absolutely true.

Although my PASSPORT proclaims me to be British.

So this is a simple matter of FACTS.

Born in Angola, you are Angolan. Born in Ireland you are Irish.

However 6 counties of Ireland remain an integral part of the Westminster legislature so you are entitled to a British passport.

Now, what is difficult to understand about that? Or do some of you just like arguing, you know "I know Tyrone wear white but it should really be black"

Actually you are correct. The only reason Tyrone chose White and red was because Derry wore Red and white for there first Ulster championship game in 1904 . They thought that they would be the opposite and chose White and red. They should really have chosen Black and Red but there you go.

There is a random sign on a roundabout in Cavan that says X (large supermarket) sources 85% of its chicken in the UK.
I was surprised at this as I thought that most supermarkets make a point of selling Irish meat.

I was in branch of the same supermarket this evening and lifted up a pack of "Fresh Irish chicken" as it stated on the front label
I looked at the back of the pack in the small print - sourced and packed in craigavon BTxxxx, United Kingdom.

Craigavon is in Ireland. That part of Ireland is unfortunately part of the UK. What do you not understand.

The purpose of the post is to show how either argument can be used to suit an agenda - but it seems people will take offence regardless
