Brits are actually likeable people and have contributed enormously to history and culture. You just have to consider their language - which we are using here - and their literature. Only problem I have with them is their claim to this island but I think they've sort of grown out of that!!

Never suggested that they didn't, merely asserted the point that but for American intervention in World War 2 the Nazis would have won the war. In World War 1, the aim was to maintain their empire and not to keep Ireland free. I have no problem with the British. I spend and have spent quite a lot of time in England, Scotland and Wales and indeed I find the English the best of all three. As regards not holding grudges, I think if you consider the number of Irishmen, women and children killed directly and indirectly by the empire then the IRA's victim list would look quite small in comparison. Don't kid yourself that the British Govt like us. When we had a purpose, i.e industries such as shipbuilding and linen and thousands upon thousands of our men lining up to fight for them the grip was vice like. Now that we are a burden and all our resources milked for all they could provide they can't get rid of us quick enough. What's done is done and all that, but as the famous phrase indeliably marked on every cenotaph says, "Lest we forget"

they are some nice italian restuarants around clerkenwell , if you fancy a bagel take a walk down commercial rd and cut through into brick lane for a salt beef bagel , if you fancy the aquariams catch a victoria line train to westminister cut across the bridge and you will see the creatures of the deep , for a film museum its right beside the aquiram , they show you originial artifacts of the films of old and new , a run down the theatre district is a must , the lion king is brilliant , and also at christmass time the snow man is usually on show in the peacock theatre in holborn , there is lot to do , and the diversity of things never cease

Like myself you are exposed to British people, media, TV, music etc. on a daily basis, this thread is merely a celebration of all the things that makes Britain great.
