What's great about Britain

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Kind of a continuation of the What's great about Ireland thread but for us boys up in Ulster. So what puts the Great in Great Britain? I'll get it started

Ulster Championship - The most intense and competitive Championship of them all with the highest quality
Culture - Some of the best music and TV ever produced
British Army - Granted they aren't particularly popular over here but their actions in two World Wars secured Ireland's freedom when Ireland wouldn't fight itself

Any others?

Ha, man I'll hand it to you, you've got a knack for winding people up, you'd make a great politician.

Pomeroy:

The Ulster Championship wouldn't be part of what makes Britain great. Maybe the UK but not Great Britain.

Fantastic point. Any time I've been to England or met English people they are the friendliest most down to Earth people you could meet with a great sense of humour. Sadly if an English person comes to Ireland they tend not to get the same reception, the inferiority complex again

The good old United States of America. Keeping Britain in its place since 1783 and winning two world wars for which the British still try and claim credit for

I think even the most blinded bitter Irishman couldn't claim Britain didn't play a vital part in World War 1 and 2

They did play a vital part. But only when America came along and saved us. On their own, they would have been hammered.
