I don't want this to be a Nordie whinge but.......the GAA seems to have forgotten that its a 32 county organisation and that everyone should be able to watch the matches. I live in Belfast and don't have access to TV3 through Virgin Media (cable TV). I've also been told that SKY don't have TV3 either, and also that RTE/TG4/TV3 are not available through Freeview, but I'm open to correction on this. How are we supposed to watch these games if the stations aren't offered? Surely the GAA should check the availability of these stations on the various TV providers, especially as the digital switch-over is coming in 2012 if I'm not mistaken? ard mhaca (Armagh) - Posts: 13 - 10/11/2010 11:00:27 813357 Link 0 |

Have any of the northern posters tried getting TV3 with the old cats ears antenna? Surely it wouldnt be too much trouble to plug it in to a tv to watch the games. bryanadams (Kildare) - Posts: 733 - 10/11/2010 12:42:02 813422 Link 0 |

hi nordies stop your whinging. I live in London (which is also part of the GAA community. we cant get RTe,TG4 or TV3. they block the online showing of the games too. setanta went bust over here. then another channel sprung up last year and broadcast for free for a while then went subscription only on SKY. We have been waiting years for rte to be broadcast over here and still nothing. but what perplexes me is that when a game is shown live on rte.ie we cant access it. we cant even see the sunday game on rte.ie. (island of ireland only) it proudly exclaims. still it could be worse my grandfather, lord of mercy on him, had to play the minor final not only in Irish but also in black & white. think of the confusion that must have caused, what with all the bishops, priests and nuns running around the field too. at least we don't have to kiss the bishop's ring any more.....well most of us anyway. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5520 - 10/11/2010 14:59:12 813573 Link 0 |

Get a better presenter than Matt Cooper and I might tune in. Preferably someone who has a good grasp of the game and preferably someone who can stimulate the analysts to debate the games under discussion in an interesting and informative way. There are plenty of young guns in local broadcasting who would love to get a go at it. Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6177 - 10/11/2010 17:53:21 813767 Link 0 |
Can't get TV3, either through digital or terrestrial, good thinking to give them more games. Benandonner (Antrim) - Posts: 459 - 11/11/2010 17:22:35 814434 Link 0 |
Matt Cooper is OK but Senan Connell and David Brady are terrible. The hurling analysts are very good and on a par with RTE. MARNELL (Westmeath) - Posts: 728 - 11/11/2010 19:08:06 814555 Link 0 |
I think tv3 are improving every year. You cant expect them to get it right straight away. The best of the lot though i think is tg4. GAA beo brings games to the people that other channels have no interest in, club football, league, schools and colleges games. Its all about the football. Dont hear anybody coming on here or elsewhere giving out about that MacDara fella or any of the others. xxx (Mayo) - Posts: 1275 - 12/11/2010 09:45:34 814801 Link 0 |

Not a fan of the TV3 coverage either. Matt Cooper has quite an annoying tone to his voice and I think he's more suited to political debate. The match commentary isn't bad actually though OffalyBigBall (Offaly) - Posts: 635 - 12/11/2010 10:38:33 814835 Link 0 |
TV3 coverage not a patch on RTE. Hurlingwise anyway, Tomas Mul, Cyrlil Farrell and GerLoughnane doing the match punditry at half time... they are as good as Giles/dunphy/brady and hook/pop combinations. They bring great entertainment. Can anyone honestly say they will sit and watch what Nicky English Daithi Regan and Jamsie have to say about a match ? zzzzzzz also, TV3 getting the minor games is a big loss to RTE aswell. Michael O'Se's commentary in Irish is legendary. Most of us first became familiar with the like of Joe Canning and Tommy Walsh through O'Se's commentary. we mightened understand all of it... bur we'll be on the edge of our seats!!! Shame on RTE for not putting their hands in their pockets. deisebhoy (Waterford) - Posts: 416 - 12/11/2010 13:19:18 814937 Link 0 |

No not happy, their coverage is terrible and Matt Cooper just should not be on TV, also splitting coverage of the minor and senior finals is just silly. The point of TV3's reach is also well made, a lot of northern and western counties can not get it unless you have Sky, as the terristrial reception is very poor and it not on freeview. Sorry but its RTE and the learned (if oft controversial) chaps of the Sunday Game for me. Richieq (Meath) - Posts: 3746 - 12/11/2010 15:26:43 815095 Link 0 |

Absolute disgrace that the Ulster games won't be viewed in the North. RTE chose not to pick the Ulster matches but they should be made available to those in the North laflour (Cavan) - Posts: 528 - 13/11/2010 18:04:59 815876 Link 0 |
