I'm not knockin sars they are a great clubs but have not lived up to their potential in fairness really have they their last club win before 2005 was 1974.... they've a Team I believe that can now do some serious damage if they win another one this year. HAG_AND_CHEESE , 21/10/2010 at 15:03
the problem is Hags that you have too many clubs in Thurles there is the Fennellys and the Kichams and Rahealty thats why they went down a bit since 1974 when the split came. Remember thay are also going for 3 u 21s in a row this year too so if they beat Clonoulty which they should that will be 2 seniors in a row they may win 4 or 5 again in a row dont bet against it

Hags did you see the Toome crowd after the match starting trouble remember the fluke they scored against Mullinahone a few years back thats typical Toome though hate losing to Sars. Theyl have to get used to it again now though

thurlesblues:
Fennelly, o'raielly and kickhams where the clubs with problems fielding teams in that time period hence why they amgalmated sarsfields had no such problem.... if anything the took the better players from these clubs I know as i used to live in thurles for a while and know of a few players from those clubs sars tried to poach.
fluke they scored against Mullinahone a few years back thats typical Toome though hate losing to Sars so a goal for thurles from a 30 meter free in the last minute to win by a point.... that sounds a bit lucky and fluky to me!!

darren stamp missing for Oulart in their semi. i'd have thought oulart would be too strong for the winners of offaly and westmeath. I'm making a big assumption that Coolderry will beat raharney, but having seen the offaly county final and the semi final, I wouldn't rate coolderry's chances against oulart.

"Senior for Tipperary in New York and won an All Ireland"
That's makes it sound like you won a senior all-ireland with tipperary...
I think you mean you won a New York Senior Hurling Championship medal for the tipperary club in new york..... still a lot better than what i've done but don't try and build it up to more than what it is.

. They also won 10 titles out of 11 and won the football the year they lost out on the 11 in a row. Now I dont think Toome will ever achieve that do you? Or any other club for that matter either inside or outside of Tipp. I stand open to correction but Il be waiting Id say!!!
St Gall's in Belfast have just won 9 out of the last ten in Belfast, and WON one all Ireland and lost in the final of another. That all Ireland was won in 2010, when their hurlers were beaten in the All Ireland Intermediate final.
Back in the 1950s when Thurles were doing well St Vincent's in Dublin were surpassing them, as were Belfast side Rossa in Antrim as both of these clubs were winning numerous football and hurling titles.
In the 1960s St John's from Belfast did likewise.
So yes Thurles Sarsfields have a proud record in Tipperary, but they have NEVER won Munster let alone an all Ireland. Of the above sides from Belfast, we know about St Gall's but St John's have been in the all Ireland football final and Rossa were in the hurling final, and WON the camogie.
The moral here? Just as well they are Thurles Sarsfields and not Belfast Sarsfields or you would never have heard of them.

Can i pull you up on the following.
"Fennellys and the Kichams and Rahealty thats why they went down a bit since 1974 when the split came." sorry Thurles kickhams, Thurles Fennellys and Rahealty existed a long time before 1974 when you say the split happened..... those clubs exists even during the golory days of thurles Sarsfileds in the 50's and 60's so you'll have to use another excuse....

the excuse hags is that Sarsfields have 30 county titles now going for 2 in a row to make it 31 also going for 3 u 21s in a row I dont think they need any excuses as after Toome with 21 titles you have to go all the way back to Moycarkey with 12 titles and the gap is only going to get bigger. I suppose when you look at Tipp being in the doldrums from 1971 to 1989 and look at the famine in Sarsfields at the same time it tells its own story doesnt it? Now look at Tipp with 4 sarsfields players on the team and panel. As I said when Thurles are strong Tipp win and are strong as Sars are the backbone of Tipp hurling. Toome dominated the 90s and part of 2000s and produced nothing for Tipperary eccept the win in 2001 as it took another mid team Holycross to deliver the 91 captain.
no excuses there mate!!

same thing hags a lot of lads couldnt make that team as Tipp brought over Donie O Connell for the game and Ian Conroy and Ralph Callaghan were also playing so I would say I won an All Ireland with Tipp in New York!

How is the the same thing the competition is called New York Senior Hurling Championship do you have a celtic cross and did you hold aloft the liam McCarthy cup in croke park!!!! so if you win a match with 3 county players on the field you've an all-ireland??? That means that I've 4 or 5 then.... unfortunately still don't have an all-star or do you have other criteria for an all-star.

Fair enough the glory days may well be back for sarsfields but i was making the point that the excuse you made was not true as those clubs existed before 1974.

yes Hags but a split came after the great Sars team of 50s and 60s and they lost a lot of good players to those clubs at that time!!!
