Perhaps now it'll be possible to have a discussion on Hurling again without a certain poster infecting it with hundreds of posts.

We'll all miss thurlesblue. His sudden demise due to his beloved club's championship exit will cut down at least 50% of the arrogant boastful posts on this site. He may resurface in 8 months or so after his Winter / Spring hibernation.

So now the clear favourite (according to some people) is gone who do we think will win it.... Della salle have to be in the mix now and they have the recent expireance of reaching a final in the last few years too...... could you question their firepower as they don't put up massive scores in games.

I think the winners of Oulart and OLG will win it. It is now or never for Oulart and they should have beaten Ballyhale last year. That defeat has rankled with them since and is a major motivation. They are fitter than they have even been, they are good enough and if they can get over OLG I think they will win the All-Ireland.
But dont rule out De La Salle either, they have lost an All-Ireland and I am sure they are desperate to win it this time.

Well with the greatest team never having been beaten (not a spelling error) what have we?

At this stage I will go for a Clarinbridge V O'Loughlin final.

I think Loughgiel have a great chance. Particularly as some of the bigger names are now out of the competition.

I would think Clarinbridge quietly fancy their chances since nobody is talking about them and with Galway's AI club record since 1992 being second to none. They had a terrible start in the group stages in Galway and only won 1 out of 4 games scraping into the playoffs but have steadily improved since and have yet to hit their stride. They also beat the Munster champions Ballygunner of Waterford in the 2002 AI semifinal which could be a good omen against DLS.

Hag,

They have Paul Roche, Keith Rossiter, Darren Stamp, Michael and Rory Jacob, David Redmond, Stephen Doyle, as well as a good few subs on the county team (Nicky Kirwan, Darren Nolan, Sack Roche I think was also a sub) as well as up and coming players (Eoin Moore and Shaun Murphy for example). Also have Des Mythen who was a great white hope a few years ago but is now back giving his all again after a few years of various issues, but is only there or there abouts for making the team which I suppose shows how strong they are.

No club in Wexford has ever put as much into a championship season so best of luck to them. Would give Wexford hurling a major shot in the arm if they can even win Leinster.

Strong looking team alright definately in with a shout then championship is there for the taking, but hurling this time of year can throw up a few upsets. But true enough also wexford hurling could do with that sort of a boost best of luck to them.

Hag, I think the whole of Wexford is behind Oulart this year which is a huge plus. Might be the first time in years that club rivalries are completely gone out the window for the good of Wexford hurling.
Best of luck to Oulart and it owuld be great if they could win.

Scooby Doo, I might be wrong here, but they have a much better chance of winning it than the tipp champs. Now keep an eye on those grapes, i think they are turning sour lol

thurlesblues absence is very prominent!! its a actually a pleasure to log onto the hoganstand blog again!! As a DLS man wouldnt fancy meetin Loughiel in da semi's. Some quality players up there Cushendall should have beat us 2 years ago in the semi's. Ye have it all to do to neat oulart or loughlins though whoever comes through ther will be hot favourites....

I agree.

Back in 1983 Loughiel had it easy as a side called Moycarkey-Borris, from one of the weaker counties, amazingly made the semi as Munster champs. Obviously Loughiel crushed them, but it will not be so easy this year as the Tipperary champ are out.

No soft touches left this year.
