All Ireland Club Hurling Favourites

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

With both Ballyhale Shamrocks of Kilkenny and Portumna of Galway now out, who would be considered favourites or at the head of the markets for the All Ireland hurling club title ?

Not sure, think Loughrea or the Bridge won't do it, but have been surprised before.
Think its superb news for Joe Canning, and hope he can have his surgery now, or at the least a long rest!

After Thurles sarsfields getting over tomme today they have good shout, they still have to get over clonoulty but they have to be up their with players like paudie maher, mikey cahill, corbett, pa bourke. Also I think carrickshock would be up their they have few class players!!

As a toome man I was sickened to hear the result-esp. a last min winner-in beirut for the last 4 months-will be back for a week long hol-in time for the tipp senior hurling final-would have been great to see toome there-but unfortunately the sars got the luck on the day-will be shouting for them in the final. To be honest I see it as a one horse race-if they can win it-who knows-they would defo be in with a shout for munster perhaps, and you never know then-LAR-what a legend!!!

Oulart The Ballagh lads could be a potential dark horse.. brought Ballyhale to extra time last year and even most Kilkenny people were in agreemeant that they left it behind them. They seem very focused this year and have the nucleas of sime excellent county players, Rossiter, Stamp, Roche, David Redmond, the two Jacobs, Dessie Mythem, Stephen Doyle to name but a few. Steamrolled everyone in the county championship although that doesn't say a whole lot here now. But with a cute old fox like Liam Dunne at the helm.. watch this space..

doesnt seem to be too much wrong with our inter county record mossbags ha ha!!
By the way Roscrea won the first club championship back in 1971 then we have had Kilruane then Borrisoleigh then Toomevara with a few Munster titles
how many clubs outside od Portumna in Galway have won it I wonder?

well done tommy k but with all due respect we prefer to concentrate on the Liam McCarthy cup!! Wed prefer to have 26 of them rather than yer 3.

bless ya thurles.

Tipp are a great county, as are Gaillimh - and there can be no denying ye have the better record at intercounty, but your club record pales compared to ours.

So you've copped that thurles are still in the hurling championship then.... I thought you said you'd be hanging up your keyboard till next year.

Mossbags, I presume you are trying to be funny here. Neither Loughrea or Clarinbridge could be considered amoung the favourites although stranger things have happened. On a side note, the county final will be a great occasion, good for galway hurling that Portumna are beaten and great to see the huge crowds back at the semi finals.
Thurlesblues, your lack of hurling knowledge is staggering. While unfortunately Galway remain amoung the weaker counties in senior county honours, the club record is second to none both in terms of overall victories and also in terms of spread of clubs claiming those victories.
