That applies to every ground if you do not know the area. As far as I am aware Clones has ONE car park, and Casement offers three. Clones maybe has 50 but I do not know, so that is not a criticism.

But I don't know Clones. I park 50 yards from Casement for EVERY game, same place every time. No problem. Outside the PD club, leave your car there for a week, no bother.

Clones is for drinking, which is why it was great for fleadhs years ago, when you were not trying to get out of the place!!!

Casement is horrible,no atmostphere, plus your on edge wondering if your car will be there when you get back. Then the drive home through some lovely places like portadown, when your sitting at traffic lights waiting to get stoned.40,000 all seater to be filled once a year in a place where only two countys like going(antrim&derry)doesnt make much scence.

791133 Exciting prospect
All you need now is for the Tories to agree to abolish the VAT on gate receipts in the six counties and it will become a plausible venue
A little birdy tells me that the VAT situation might be changing in the south.

Have to agree that Clones has a great atmosphere but it's really a boozy day out for many who don't go to any other games. It is also a fact that the Executive money is there, it has to go to somewhere in the 6 counties, Casement is in the capital city so what's the problem? I guess it's just the massive chip that some of our country cousins have about the city, many of them make a living there or wreck all round them in the Holyland but do nothing except whine and whinge about Belfast until they get back to their whitewashed bungalows that blight the countryside. Of course there is a certain amount of crime but what city doesn't have that? This is a welcome return to the home of the Ulster final. Get used to it folks.

The question is why is Omagh not the place where a devlopement like this is taking place, it's central to ulster and as we all know tyrone is at the shining beacon in terms of ulster GAA and of Gaelic culture. This is just another example of west of the bann discrimination...

Hardcore and other posters, Clones is nothing but a day out for the Blue Bag Brigade, get tanked on the Bus there, then take their Carryout to a well known spot in Clones and drink themselves silly.
Traders and shopkeepers in Clones have always upped their prices for the arrival of the Nordies, and for all the money they have accrued over the years, Clones is still a bleak, desolate spot, not even a lick of paint used in years.
As for the Ground itself, pathetic, limited viewing except for the Hill or behind either goals, or for the privileged few in the Stand who get the good seats, will be glad to see the back of it.

How much will it cost to instil atmosphere at this 'new' Casement- what a soulless place it is

How dare you Sam02 associate me with the Blue Bag Brigade I carry my drink in a rucksack, I have a special plastic beaker in case of an accident I wouldn't want some young child stepping on any broken glass heath and safety is my middle name . KEEP CLONES! KICK CASEMENT INTO TOUCH! KEEP THE BLUE BAG'S and STOP THE JOYRIDES!

As for Derry fans - I'm with Orlaith on this one, I have no fondness for Casement. There's no real atmosphere or vibe about the place and as many others have said, it is every bit as awkward to get in and out of as Clones. Anyway, the higgeldy-piggeldy nature of an Ulster Final day in Clones adds to its charm; there's a whole social dimension to the way the town gets invaded for the day and publicans and shopkeepers and entrepreneurial owners of small fields make hay while the sun shines on a wee corner of the country that is, for that one day, totally G.A.A. Even the customary two-mile walk back to the car associates to me with having the crack with other fans, everyone taking their time, savouring and turning over the experience we have just shared. And before anyone starts about Derrymen not knowing much about Ulster Finals in recent years, I've been to plenty of them involving other counties and probably enjoyed them even more, being without that anxiety about your own team's performance that every fan takes to a match: 1999, for instance, in the company of my Armagh brother-in-law and a couple of dozen of his clubmates, when their team finally made the breakthrough.
KEEP THE ULSTER FINAL IN CLONES, ITS WHERE IT NOW BELONGS.

They should spend the money covering the Hill in Clones and putting in seating !! Clones has a great atmosphere and there is plenty of parking if you know where to go !!

I grew up with Ulster Finals at casement, seemed to be the big two every year, Down V Cavan.

The ground was packed, the atmosphere was electric.

Even in 1992 when they brought back a big game, the semi between Down and derry, Ir was like back to the future, jam packed to the rafters, great atmosphere.

Clones has acces to pubs. Poor ground, up a large hill, with poor viewing unless you are in the stand.

the atmosphere on the street is good, but it is fleadh good rather than football. Some of us like to EAT. And not Burger stalls, despite those lads great efforts.

Clones can be ok, if you are prepared to suffer, but Casement..........paradise.

It may be heretical for a Derryman to say this, but if the Ulster Final were to be moved from Clones, which I don't believe it should be, HokeyPokey's argument makes sense. Omagh is centrally located, well served by roads, has plenty of parking within easy walking distance and already has very fine facilities in place. Painful though it is for a bigoted Derryman to say this, Healy Park is a credit to Tyrone G.A.A., and deserves its fair share of big matches far more than Casement Park does.

Well sam02,you been from armagh should know all about the buckfast brigade, thats all i seen in clones when armagh were there.Yes there's loads of pubs in the town but you dont have to go in to them.Belfast will get the upgrade, because its getting money from the british goverment, clones is in the republic, and our goverment have no money because they bailed out the banks and there friends.

The death of Clones has been greatly exaggerated, a Casement rebuild will take a while and the money still hasn't been confirmed yet so the Ulster final will be at Clones for at least the next 5 years and it will still get semi-finals. However the anti-Belfast brigade are a boorish crowd, they take EVERYTHING from Belfast and give very little back except sending their annoying paralytic drunken Saoirse/Phelim offspring to torture pensioners and families in South Belfast.

At least if Antrim get to another Ulster football final their Belfast supporters will be able to find the ground. (just a joke Patrique)

Clones is 10 times better for atmosphere... FACT.

Casement Park is a far superior playing surface (I know this from experence) and has more potential for stadium development. If they could sort out some decent parking that would b great. In saying that if more games are going there then these minor issues would sort themselves out.

Casemant Pk was always supposed to have preference to Clones except due to the fighting... would this be correct Patrique??
