Tipp are Hurling Champions!!!!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I told ye wed win by at least 7 points I lost 100 euro as I backed Tipp to win by between 4 and 6 points

I was hoping Kilkenny might get a point at the end

As I told ye all year Kilkenny hadnt a prayer of beating Tipp especially after the robbery of last year
Wadding did a brilliant job Tennyson was even throwing the hurley at Lar for the last goal

Tipp bullie them yesterday men against boys and it is Tipp who have the strength in depth with the subs they brought in like Callinan and Hennessy
cats have no strength in depth also a very average minor team.

Jaysus thurlesblues you were 100% correct from the start. We are still waiting for the first Cat to emerge no doubt they will surface as the day progresses, I'm off to Spain for a week tonight, I'll drop into an internet cafe over there to check on how the aftermatch analysis between yourself and Pudders is going. Do you know anything about football, I sincerely hope you are predicting Cork to win Sam.

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!

What a game.

A masive congratulations to Tipp. Brilliat stuff from the moment the ball was throw in.

But it must not be forgotten how fantastic this KK team are. All credit to their greatness that whenever Tipp delivered a sucker blow and went 5 or 6 ahead you never once felt Kilkenny were out of it until injury time.

A proud day to be an Irishman.

Well no complaints, the best team won yesterday. Tipp were far hungrier and out fought us. They played like we did for the first of our four. So many of the tipp team played fantastic yesterday it is hard to pick out individuals. Padraig maher was immense as was most of the tipp backs who really kept so many of the cat forwards quiet. Really only jj and Mick fennelly played for us yesterday. This tipp team have more all Irelands on them given their age. The balance of power may have shifted west of urlingford.

Lots of rumours in the pubs in Kilkenny if retirements. All I can say is this team owes us nothing. They have been proud ambassadors to the sport and to the county and I'll be at the homecoming to thank them.

Well done tipp again but we'll beback!

Up the cats!

ask a silly question but thurlesblues, if you were so sure ye'd win by at least 7 points, why did you bet €100 on winning by 4-6?

Thurlesblues what was your predicted scoreline? The margin? Or what?

Who would be possible candidates for retirement. Eddie Brennan, Henry Sheflin possibly depending on how injury responds. Who else?

Corbett must go down in history for scoring 3 goals in a hurling final ever.

Thurlesblue how can you be so modest / gracious before and after the game? You really have touched a lot of people in HS with your graciousness!!

CavanGael There is a seperate thread re when last hat-trick was scored which was 1970, I also mentioned in that thread that Bob McConkey got 6 goals in 1923 , and I'm not even sure if that is all time record.

Why is there such a silence from the Kilkenny posters???

Because it took an hour and a half to get out of Dublin, never mind the traffic on the motorway.

The match, everyone knows Tipp were the better team. Their hunger was unreal. I was disappointed in Noel Hickey and Jackie Tyrell but the movement in the Tipp forwards was class. Great to see Kilkenny and Tipperary supporters applauding Shefflin off the field even though there was a usual yob cheering when he got injured. I thought Kilkenny would kick on from half time after their mini comeback but to Tipps credit they got their two early goals in the second half.

Very disappointed with Kilkenny overall, should be a good championship next year and hopefully some more counties will rise after seeing Tipps achievements.

1 Tipperary fan got onto the pitch at the Cusack/Canal corner and did anyone see your man climb the fence at the hill?

Tipp did to Kilkenny what Kilkenny have beeen doing to everyone else for the past 4 years. Killed them with a couple of quick goals. Over the years the mantra we all learned was take your points and the goals will come. Kilkenny stood that on its head in recent years and often scorned points in pursuit of goals. Tipperary did the same yesterday and it worked. Twas almost a bit sad to see Kilkenny taking a point with minutes to go when a goal chance was possibly on. There was 6 points in it at that time and if they had played for and got the goal , who knows. Overall it was a really great game and it was so exciting I would have to watch a re-run before I could make an analysis. Off the top of my head I wouldn't have signalled out Tyrell as having a poor game but who could have believed that this Kilkenny back-line would have conceded such a score.

Before the match
764446 I know I hae € 30.00 on at 10/1 that Tipp will win by between 4 and 6 stupid odds for the bookies as its more than likely that will be the winning margin!

After the match
766070 I told ye wed win by at least 7 points I lost 100 euro as I backed Tipp to win by between 4 and 6 points

First you had €30 on it, then you had €100 on it. You make up odds from ladbrokes that never were!! Stick to the facts it would make you more believeable.
