Real Rangers Fans

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

By Pat Hurst, Scotsman Newspaper.
All but one of 12 rioting Rangers football hooligans who took part in the worst destruction Manchester has suffered "since the Blitz" will be going to jail, a judge has said.
They were among hundreds of fans who caused "mayhem" at the Uefa Cup final held in the city two years ago.

Police were attacked and property damaged in the hours of violence in the city centre, and two police officers - Mick Regan and John Goodwin were caught by the mob, surrounded and battered.

Several of the defendants at Manchester Crown Court yesterday put thumbs up to weeping relatives in the public gallery as they were led down to the cells.

But then Scottish accents could be heard shouting up to the courtroom: "F*** Manchester! F*** Pc Regan and Goodwin as well!"

As opposed to Celtic fans who merely sing songs in support of the Manchester bombing

I think if you did enough research you could find similar for Man United/leeds/Millwall/Celtic/roma etc etc etc.

And the title is a bit misleading.

I am constantly told that "real" Celtic fans are NOT the mindless bigots so should it now work both ways?

Brought up now cos twas only now they were found guilty and sentenced and being a fair minded Celtic Fan I was allowing them the presumption of innocence until a verdict was reached. Over the past couple of years my good friend bad.monkey aka Real Rangers Fan has started a number of threads slagging Celtic and Celtic Supporters accordingly I find myself constantly reacting to his threads. So on this occassion I decided to reverse the trend and start a thread myself , bad.monkey purports to be a Real Rangers Fan. Well these guys mentioned in the newspaper reports are most definitely Real Rangers Fans ,I dare you bad, monkey walk into the Louden Tavern in Glasgow and order a pint in your Dublin accent and sit down for a chat with your fellow supporters.

First of all I couldn't care less about a few soccer hooligans, but I am at a loss as to why any Irishman and especially a supposed gaa man would be a fan of Glasgow Rangers?

While on my way to gaelic training I had the misfortune to be caught up in the centre of Glasgow with ones who couldn't muster the bus fare to Manchester. It was the most frightening experience of my life. They were baying for blood and that was only at 5pm. In all honesty Celtic have many hundresds of bigots who mix up west of scotland sectarianism with Irish republicanism but nothing like the that in the blue corner. There are 80,000 members of Orange Order in Scotland and there are more marches there than the whole of the six counties . Their catholic equivalent the AOH can only boast about 200 souls and most of them have one foot on a banana skin. Thankfully I believe things are getting better. The 1980s during the popes visit and the hunger strike was a difficult time to be a catholic in Glasgow. From what I gather there isn't much sign of protest to current pope coming in about two weeks. Hopefully, things are getting better although I have no intention of going back there to live to find out.

Corkcelt,

Celtic fans are supposed to be "better" than Rangers fans.

So you should not be copying Bad Monkeys tactics.

Seriously.

Possibly patrique but one can only turn the other cheek so often. Anyhow I know he will not take any heed of what I say, but perhaps he might read the post of thistle harps and take note of who is allying himself too. In fairness to thistleharps he does not support either side of the Old Firm and has actually had the experience of living in Glasgow.

Probably for the same reason people support Celtic.

they allegedly have strong Irish connections and support, especially in the North of the country, in places like......Tyrone.
