Can we take it from TB's latest rant that Pat Kerwick & Seamus Callanan were also "feigning" injury? 8000 at Nowlan Park last night to see Tommy,Henry & John being put through their paces by the most successful hurling manager ever to coach a team in an era where skill, stamina & match fitness were never better epitomised. Attempting to compare the early to mid 60s (where games ended in cricket scores & you could legally bundle sliotar & goalkeeper into the net) with the superhuman modern athletes (not men but giants) is disingenuous in the extreme and really shows up certain people's total ignorance of modern day hurling by even attempting to make such a comparison. Just one question. How many inter county teams do you think Niall Paterson (Antrim) or Seanie O Leary (Cork) would walk onto in the modern era? And finally maths wasn't my greatest subject at schools but seven out of ten AIs in one decade appeas to be slightly more than four AIs a decade (by the way Kk won three in the 60s,Wx won two so Tipp lost more than they won-slightly disappointing for a so-called "greatest ever team!"). Still I think we'll concur on one thing-four AIs in ten years sounds a lot more impressive than four in forty five years! naglfar95 (Kilkenny) - Posts: 24 - 26/08/2010 11:18:41 756699 Link 0 |

This bigging up of Tipp winning an All-Ireland each decade really is wearing thin now. It proves nothing. A team could win an All-Ireland in 1981 and then not win one for nearly another 20 years until 1999 and still keep up this claim of winning one every decade. Boogaloo. People using mindless statistics to back up their arguments. Tongo (UK) - Posts: 1795 - 26/08/2010 12:28:59 756790 Link 0 |

Well it looks like it is all mind games by Cody in an attempt to take the pressure of 5 in a row off his team however Tipp will not care which men are in the black and amber it does not matter to us, personally I hope they are all fully fit. Tipp are not afraid of any of these kk players be they who they may. Bring it on, 10 days and counting tipptothetop (Tipperary) - Posts: 531 - 26/08/2010 13:02:42 756822 Link 0 |

I can't see Kilkenny losing this game with or without Shefflin. Tipp had their chance last year and Cody will have learned from that, Kilkenny by six points. bryanadams (Kildare) - Posts: 733 - 26/08/2010 13:24:21 756844 Link 0 |

good to see some fighting talk from the tipp lads here, fair play to you. i couldnt believe the amount of tipp people who seemed plaeased with a 'moral' victory last year. maybe thats just a reflection of how good this kilkenny team is. That said they are only human and are beatable, a good start is essential for tipp bad.monkey (USA) - Posts: 4678 - 26/08/2010 14:00:09 756889 Link 0 |

Henry and John are putting their future wellbeing at risk in their desire to play their part in KKs bid to make history, anyone who says Cody is playing mind games dont know what they are talking about,it was obvious to any of the people in Nowlan Park last night that it is highly unlikely JT will play any part in The AI,while he hit a few ballls in the match he doesnt have the mobility to play in an AI,Henry was more mobile than JT but still wasnt as mobile as he would like to be,well thats my opinion,Brian doesnt need to play mind games, can anyone here give an example of when he did? the only game here is the AI and the desire of 2 players to play their part, its an example of their love of the game and their county, nothing more, nothing less mooncat (Kilkenny) - Posts: 543 - 26/08/2010 14:07:23 756905 Link 0 |

I agree Mooncat, mind games would be none of the injured players playing until the morning of the final & then suddenly appearing. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6628 - 26/08/2010 16:03:57 757028 Link 0 |

Best of luck to Tipperary. Painful as it is to say it, Tipperary's mind wasn't on it, that day at the Pairc. Against Kilkenny, Cork seemed stuck to the ground and made Kilkenny's job easier with their stupid hand-passing. Kilkenny would have won, anyway, but I would have liked to see Cork giving them a bit more opposition. If Tipperary are firing on all cylinders for the entire match, it will be close, maybe even a draw. Midleton (Cork) - Posts: 646 - 26/08/2010 17:52:05 757199 Link 0 |
