Whistles on the Hill

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

What was with the extra whistles on the hill on Saturday? surely the stewards should have kicked out the culprit? Tyrone denied a certain goal as well as being put off for the one that hit the woodwork...

Absolute disgrace. Typical Dublin fans. Always known for their disrespect. Can u tell me any other team that booed their team off the pitch. Real English soccer mentality.

There is a good point being made here. If it was a tyrone fan at it there would be uproar on here.

Glenswilly thats not true. You always have a minority of fans from every county like that. I'm not going to lie I used to hate everything Dublin with a passion when I was younger. But as time has passed I have realised they are just like every other county. They have their contingent of genuine supporters as well as the bad apples. Don't appreciate you coming on here just to have an opportunity to slate the dubs.

I'm reasonably new to this site (new to tinterner, if I'm honest!) but can someone tell me, is it normal for these Mental posts to pop up after EVERY Dublin Game?
I've been going to games since the early eightees and whistling and booing has always been commonplace when free's are being taken. Any half decent kicker wouldn't let it affect them anyway.

so waynol your denying that penrose stopped playing and let the ball fly over his head instead of catching it because he heard a whistle from the hill.pathetic

I was at the game on Sat and I was sitting with my family in The Davin stand (Canal End). It appeared that every time Tyrone advanced over the Dublin 45 towards the Hill end a whistle was being blown. This was very off putting for me as a supporter over 150metres away never mind what it was like for the Tyrone players. At no time did any steward attempt to take the whistle from ths person. The whistle was actually being blown between Tyrone passes and it was evident that players actually became influenced by this. For someone who paid €35 for a seat, €85 in total for my family this was totally unacceptable!! I'm not saying that this influenced the result in any way but had Tyrone got their noses further in front th eresult may have been different.

Sorry Ronnie, just to clarify it was a referee's typ ewhistle that was being blown, not ordinary wolf-whistling to put off opponents free-taking which is commonplace on the HILL and in most other grounds. this seemed to b ea premeditated attempt to disrupt Tyrone's play. Fact. If you were at the game you would've heard it.

I actually just have to laugh at this. Not once did I mention Meath anywhere in this thread yet PJ feels the need to bring it up. Can't you read? this thread is about whistles on the hill not our championship exit. Though you probably get a kick out of taking things personal so it wouldn't surprise me.

Even the dogs in the street know that clucko the legend would've got the ball before penrose anyway! Also if penrose was any good he would not've stopped playing!

If you were 150metres away how could you even see the guy with the whistle on the hill never mind how you could know that no steward attempted to take it from him?
