Louth deserve a replay

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I hope they do get a replay and then Meath stuff them. The cynical tackles by Louth in the last 10 mins and kicking the ball away just showed poor sportmanship. Add in booing the free taker .... maybe the goal was just karma. But i'd prefer Meath wipe the floor with them in a replay and we dont see their supporters again in Croke Park for another few decades ... cowards.

And the ref played 5 minutes but called 3 at the start......games should have been over.

Would Louth play as well in a replay?

They were robbed, and the umpires were useless.

France,Uruguay,Meath........

Jimbo dub yer completely right....something thats always happening to Dublin i.e. all dubs are labelled by the odd few scums. Mon1 the umpires just took no acknowledgment of fair play by outlining that the ball was threw over the line. In fairness to the referees mistake, Apart from that the whole incident the ref did very very well in his over seeing of the game!!!

Abswolute nonsense on this thread saying Louth only have themselves to blame .
1. They are a division 3 side appearing in thier first final in 50 years and are bound to make mistakes .
2. Louth did win the game within the 73 minutes that Sludden indicated .
3. Louth won the game within the rules .
4. I know Sludden was entitled to play beyond 73 minutes but why do so ? Because he gambled on Meath scoring an equalising point and never counted on a goal . That was not human error but a conscious decision . I have no sympathy for him .
5 . Joe Sheridans was the equivalent of two goals in soccer because it turned victory into defeat with no time for reprieve .
I am not from Louth but feel sick . A terrible day for GAA

Also, whilst I dont condone the minoriy of Louth supporters behavior, I can understand their feelings at the spur of the moment.

To 51longago - "i will not deny i categorically hate Meath football. Cheats, cheats cheats cheats cheats." ...... at least we can value your opinion as being based on the evidence and not some pre-conceived nonsense from your small mind. The only team cheating were the Louth team trying to waste time with all the fouls and kicking the ball away, now pull your head in.

And to anybody who says - I dont condone what the supporters did but can't blame them -- what tosh. Bitch and moan by all means but you dont need to act like animals.

judging by the louth managers interview...the ref didnt consult the umpires, told dem raise d flag..and wasn't great towards him in the dressing room after the game

703354 Goal line technology in the GAA
-----------------------------------
They have goal line technology in the GAA, its called UMPIRES!. No amount of hawkeye, GPS or laser guided technology can replace the fact that you have two men on the line, one of which was 2 feet from the "goal", his line of vision unimpeded (unlike the ref) and still, STILL he cant make the right call. I despair, totally despair, what did Louth do to deserve such an ignominious defeat, nothing except play their hearts out and this is what you get.

703424 Not for one minute do i agree with what the handful of Louth supporters done but my god i am not a Louth man and i was fuming. Everybody on here will give different angles on it but there is no way anybody can deny there is nearly always an element of cheating when Meath win a big game more so than any other county. I hope they draw Kerry at some stage and get a lesson in football, i will not deny i categorically hate Meath football. Cheats, cheats cheats cheats cheats.
------------------------------------------
You are well out order 51longago, i started to read your post and thought yeah until i got to the punchline. Meath did what they had to do and fair play to them they never give up until the last, this is about wider issues so dont let your anti-meath stance cloud your judgement!

If those who are so adamant that louth get a replay, especially those from Dublin would you kindly also ask the GAA to reconsider the 1995 All Ireland final and offer to replay that as it was Dublins last senior All Ireland title which was won bye default. Louth I feel your pain but the result should stand .

A Royal Disgrace.

Meath should be ashamed.

THIS IS THE GAA VERSION OF THE THIERRY HENRY INCIDENT PLAYED OUT AGAIN AT CROKE PARK!!

Louth made Meath look like boys and it is disgustiing that Louth were cheated out of lifting the cup. How anyone can dive in to the goal, throw the ball and get away with it is beyond me.

Meath are now like the French of the World Cup and even their fans have any decency they will call for a replay.

How did Meath cheat, he clearly tried to kick the ball. The ref should have given a free its not Meaths fault. Anyway you will never beat the Royals!!!!

The GAA need to act...

Sure even if it goes to a replay, I'd say Meath will win it.

Louth have been robbed of an achievement that would have meant so much,

It's left a very nasty taste in the mouth this business.... It's brought shame to the GAA.

In my book Louth are Leinster champions.... If Dublin had of won like that.. well I would have preferred to have lost the game. No if's ands or but's about it.

There is no pride in such a "victory"

Can't see what Meath did wrong
In every game that you watch players accept frees that were not fouls - commit fouls - accept points that were wide
steal a few yards on a free, pick the ball off the ground, overcarry the ball etc etc.
Just cause Sheridan got a goal from his and it was in the last minute it does not make a difference - its up to the Ref to interpret if the rules were broken

As regards the blame for the incident it was the Refs fault not the umpires - the ref went up and told him to signal a green flag he didn't consult and never even spoke to the umpire on the left hand post who had the best line of vision
