I said scorable but that's beside the point.

The point is Kildare had an extra man for 2/3 of the game and couldn't beat a limited Dublin. I think that if Kildare were as good last year as people maintain then they would've won the Leinster. Subsequent results and performances this year seems to back this up.

MesAmis...count how many "scoreable frees" we got that day...

Back to the game tomorrow, Kildare will be without Alan Smith and Anthony Rainbow to go with the long term injured so we will find it very difficult but with the amazingly brave and committed Dermot in the engine room we have a 50/50 chance.

Come on the lillies

I have a good feeling today about the antrim game, Dermot Earley making himself available despite his massive personal loss shows what a man he is and goes to show the bloodline runs true, I expect there to be a full house in newbridge tomorrow night and we should all get behind our team and give them the support and encouragement they deserve, c'mon the lilywhites.

Fair play to Dermot for making himself available. It will be a very emotional day for him and hopefully he will make his father proud.

What an emotional night this will be for Dermot, burying his father that morning and playing a hugh match in the evening, he is a remarkable man and deserves a lot of credit..

What a man Dermot Earley Jnr is .. how many people would show such commitment to their county just hours after burying a family member .. RESPECT ..

The point I was making is that you can't use the excuse of Dublin getting a handy free for Kildare losing. Did Kildare get no debatable decisions in the game? If Kildare were good they would've beaten a limited 14 man Dublin. Maybe Kildare didn't get any scoreable frees, I honestly don't remember, but thats beside the point.

Kildare, under McGeeney, have yet to beat anyone of note in the championship. Until they do (much like the Dubs) there will be question marks.

Just getting ready to head off to Newbridge. Hope we get a really good game this evening, one fitting for the memory of Dermott Earley snr. Upmost respect for Dermott jnr for lining out tonight, a measure of the man that he can play a part after buring his dad this morning. Well we really need a win tonigt, winning against a good side on the road is the next step in the ladder for us and hopefully and I believe we will just about come out on the right side of a close game. Should be a cracker, Aontroim abú

Cant believe that to be honest.

Dont mean to sound disrespectful but how important can football or a round 1 qualifier be to somebody?

I know the last place my mind would be after a bereavement is on football.

John Devine of Tyrone missed an All Ireland final when his Dad passed away.
There are more important things in life.

Everyone to their own I suppose.

everyone to their own is correct?? its a very personal decision he has made and I don't believe anyone has the right to question it. Fair play to the man for making himself available during such a tough time, probably one of the hardest days of his life.
John Devine missing the AI is a different story, everyone reacts differently to the pressure of playing after a family member has passed away I am sure. Best of luck to Earley jnr tonight, very brave man!

Hoping to see a few changes to the team that played against Louth, especially in the full back line. Think McGeeney will stick with most of those who started though as they should need no more motivation to go out and win this one. John Doyle will probably go into the full forward line with Smith out injured.

The feeling from those of us heading to Newbridge mightn't be the most positive it's ever been, but the support this evening should be massive, the town and St. Conleths' should be a sea of white.

Never before have we wanted the team win so badly for reasons so different.

The biggest tribute we can give the Earley family tonight is a win.

As for the game itself, if we can keep a point or two ahead of Antrim up until the hour mark I'd expect us to rally together and go on and claim a narrow, hard fought win. Don't think there'll be more than 3 points in it either way.
