In fariness the Havelock square end does look a bit stupid but there was some issues about the blocking of sunlight to residents houses or some such. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13792 - 19/05/2010 16:10:11 652312 Link 0 |

In fairness 50,000 would have been just about right for the football team, but it is nowhere near enough for our rugby team. It's also interesting to note that the next two Heineken Cup Finals have just been awarded to Cardiff and London respectively, and while the IRFU do expect to get a Heineken Cup Final within the next few years, it is easily the smallest stadium of the five (London, Paris, Cardiff, Edinburgh & Dublin) that can host the Heineken Cup Final. They will also never get a Champions League Final, as I think the minimum for that is 60,000+, so you really do wonder leaving aside the fact that it is way to small for rugby internationals anyway, why did they just not build a new stadium somewhere else if they were restricted to 50,000 seats? gilly0512 (Galway) - Posts: 1176 - 20/05/2010 16:23:29 653610 Link 0 |
It looks the part but for the Oriel Park size stand behind one of the goals. sam57 (Louth) - Posts: 1502 - 20/05/2010 17:38:01 653775 Link 0 |
