Its on the Southside and away from the 'bogballers' Thats what they care about. No longer will they have to get a shuttle bus from the Merrion Inn and Paddy Cullens and brave the dangers of Drumcondra. caughtredhanded (Tyrone) - Posts: 602 - 19/05/2010 10:57:08 651806 Link 0 |
Its fairly good, but not great. Its a pitty we couldnt build a really magnificient stadium that we could be proud of, it looks a bit of a mess. Also Its the second most expensive stadium in europe and only has 50000 seats! Only in Ireland could that happen! Lebowski (Meath) - Posts: 363 - 19/05/2010 11:04:05 651813 Link 0 |

Looks very nice, but as a Northerner any thing would look lovely compared to the **** stadia that we have to put up with, yes? know? maybe? that what the Minster for sport says when ask if the is likely to be a National Stadium in the North. williewentwell (Tyrone) - Posts: 1712 - 19/05/2010 12:49:00 651956 Link 0 |

That really is a missed opportunity, I mean the Welsh "National" stadium holds 70/80K, is state of the art and cost significantly less than the Aviva. On a six nations weekend they could almost double that capacity such is the demand for tickets, likewise for a big WC/Euro qualifier, what were they thinking of? brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 19/05/2010 14:21:13 652109 Link 0 |

Guys, I think you need to use a little common sense here. We are Ireland, not some large country in Europe. How many countries of our size and population can say they have a soccer/rugby stadium of 50,000. Wales may have done it with an 75k stadium but they want to move out as it is too expensive to run except the few days a year it is full. Half of the time it is empty. Also the capacity of the old Landsdowne was 36,000 all seated for soccer or 48,000 for rugby (25,000 standing on terraces). In fairness a seating capacity jump from 36k to 50k is a big increase, nearly 40%. Loughduff Lad (Cavan) - Posts: 2466 - 19/05/2010 14:58:32 652175 Link 0 |
