Good thread shaggykev It's very easy to say Cork will walk the AI and tell you to put your house on it but it's amazing what happens to your thinking when you're going to place your hard earned cash on a team.

For me Kerry at 3/1 looks more attractive than Corks 9/4 in every sense. If Cork don't win Munster they could well be ambushed on the road.

well the only saying money talks and Bull talks is quite apt when it comes to betting

putting one's house on something and the old sayings its a banker mean different things in today's recessionary Ireland. The house is worth feck all and the banker is the last thing you can trust

no Cork will win, now its just a case of how much i'll put on. here comes the second problem, you should never put too much on that if it loses you cant afford to pay the bills but if you put to little on and it wins, you'll be kicking yourself, you didn't put enough on.

ps. yes that's me on the betfair forum, that place has gone to hell, put it up there too as i thought it was a good article and nobody has even started talking GAA in the Irish forum, irish my ****

Well I've agreed a great price with the Halal boys in Ballyhaunis for my ram lambs, and if the weather stays fine then I'll save a good piece of hay, the turf is footed, the grant is due, the money I've saved on diesel by filling the tank of the jeep with the red stuff all year, along with all of the above, plus the farm and the Massey, and the wife and 4 kids - if anyone will have them… I'm putting the whole lot on Cork to do the double this year.

If it comes in I'll be laughing.

If it doesn't I'll be living in a tent on the roundabout in Mulhuddart.

Rarely bother with the betfair forum anymore. Too many eijits who are only interested in slagging people off. Used to be good crack but a few of them were banned. GAA chat used to be good with a certain KK chap, and a few from Dublin, Offaly and Wexford.

Unfortunately I feel that Cork are peaking far too early. No need to be beating teams out the gate at this stage of the year as we know they are quality team. They need to slow down the pace for a while and build so that they peak in september.

its set up perfectly for mayo.bad league final everyone writing them of.i think they will be very close this year, also think the pressure is off the dubs which should help them.imagine if dublin did win the league on my god they would have been blow out of all proportion just like cork are right now.

i think it is too easy to assume that cork has it in the bag, that i sense it could be swipped off them from under their nose.

The only team in my view that can possibly beat Cork this year is Cork themselves.

Furthermore, if Conor Counihan can't win an All Ireland in 2010 with the panel of players he has at his disposal he should be made emigrate by the Cork people. Or worst still he should be made live in Kerry for the rest of his days and ordered to keep the toilets clean in Fitzgerald stadium. No pressure there Conor Counihan!

PS: Seriously though in times of recession I think Cork is a great bet this year to help earn some extra Euros.

cork arnt worth their price, it makes more sense to back them in each game and keep your total rolling, 2/1 is poor seen as they wil more than likley have to beat kerry twice, tyronne and dublin..

I don't think it is a fait accompli with regards to Cork winnng the football all-ireland but they will be favourites aganist every team they might meet.

There could be mental stumbling blocks such as Kerrys recent victories over them, but the national league title and the loss of so many key kerry players will have done away with that fear. There is the fear possibly against Tyrone, but they beat Tyrone in the semi last year (although losing in the league this year) so will go into any repeat fixture with confidence. A team which they rate less however could come under the rader and shock cork and Kildare/Dublin/Armagh/Derry/Down might all be capable of doing that.

So I would'nt bet my house on Cork but if you have a holiday in danger of being cancelled due to volcanic ash, the cost of the holiday on Cork winning the All-Ireland might seem like a good punt.

Cork looks like the best team by far this year. They should win the championship. But, don't bet too heavily on them.

I find reading threads on predictions for who is going to win the aI, that the general feeling is and very strong feeling in most cases is it's between Cork, Kerry and to a lesser extent Tyrone. Most will say there is no way anybody else can do it.

Back all three and you are guaranteed profit so if this is the case there will be a lot of wealthy Gaa pundits come september if backed something like this.

Cork- 1000 euro win @ 9/4 returns = 3,250

Kerry- 600 euro win @ 3/1 returns= 2,400

Tyrone 400 euro win @ 9/2 returns= 2,200

Cork WILL NOT win

I am not saying i think any of them three will win, i'm simply making a point if people are so confident that no county outside the 3 mentioned can deliver sam, well they can go and print money if they want.

I personally think Cork are in with a great chance but would not jump in, Armagh, Down, Dublin, Monaghan and Mayo are better equipped than they have been in the last few years and i think take into consideration that Kerry and Tyrone are hardly the force they were, we could be in for a very unfamilar type of championship but all that said, one still has to say Cork are the form team.

Yes one of that three will win 51Longago. However, if you going to dutch all three, you might as well do it right. Try the following:

€38.18 on Cork @ 3.75
€35.79 on Kerry @ 4
€26.03 on Tyrone @5.5

€43.17 profit for every €100 invested.

Loyal, again i must repeat this is not my thinking and i didn't sit down with calculator to work out best way of doing it but my reasoning of staking more on cork in my example was most think Cork will win it so it was more cover bets with the other two with slight profit.
