IS Cork just too obvious?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

First time poster, not sure how many of ye lads like a punt or two or is it completely frowned upon

Love the football for the summer time to win a few pound, not a massive punter, just like a wee flutter to keep it lively, Donegal man myself but cant be backing those eegits(again!)

And for the life of me, I reckon Cork are as good a good thing as there possbly is, there is no such thing as a good thing but they were improving lumps and spades last season and kerry and tyrone look like they are going backwards with nobody else jumping off the page,
Best price i have seen is 9/4, any 5/2 knocking about is any Kerry Bookie offering better again?

I seem to remember Tyrone were lurking in the long grass last week!

I think at this stage everybody understands that Mayo haven't a hope of winning the All-Ireland, Dublin maybe - but not Mayo!

You see that's the problem... Serious users need to escape reality, It's easier for them to hide from the real world.

Well not hiding from reality... more lurking from reality right?

im laying down a mark here , but my opinion is that cork will walk to the final, but if they play tyrone in the final, tyrone will be too strong for them , cork to choke again in the final, kerry look poor this year, the end of a goden age for kerry, Sean cavanagh will be colecting sam and footballer of the year, i have double on tyrone and cavangh this year.

kerryrowz - don't think that Tyrone would have the ability to get inside our heads the same way that ye've done in Croker for the last few years. Doesn't mean we'd beat them handily or anything like that - I wouldn't put a lot of dough on a result either way if it came to that match up - but based on current form I'd marginally fancy Cork.

September is a long way off and Cork are being talked up out of all proportion in my view - not too surprising given that this time of the year is the equivalent of the GAA's silly season - lots of frivolous news stories and idle speculation based on little enough real news. Cork had a good league but not so good as to be all but anointed Champions - a lot of marginal wins - Kerry, Monagahan, Galway and two losses to Mayo & Tyrone. A decent campaign certainly but no more. A positive prospect for the championship but let's not get carried away.

As for Kerry - go away from me with that auld guff talking Kerry down ;) - standard line from the Kerry camp every year - 'we need to rebuild' , 'team in transition' etc etc . Ye'll be in the mix at the business end and it'd be a foolish punter that'd would put a lot on the result in Fitzgerald stadium on June 6th.

A few injuries or a bad performance and suddenly Cork would be written off as quickly as they are being hyped now - as Harold McMillan memorable said when asked what would blow his government off course " Events dear boy events".

Lads don't discard the whiterbannas lad. He really has his finger on the pulse of Mayo football.

If he says Mayo are waiting in the long grass, I'm sure they are. Do they have a football on them, or just novelty t-shirts

Is this the same Cork team that strolls through Munster, looks beautiful in the semi and get an all mighty nose bleed when they come up againt Kerry at HQ.

I'd prefer Galway each way in the hurling personally. Galway's obstacles...Kilkenny in Leinster...if they lose they won't meet them again until the final...if they win they will probably avoid Tipp...you are backing them at 5/1 to get to the semi or final at which point on betfair they will bne a lot shorter....the other bet to trade would be Waterford...20/1+...they will get to the quarters at least and will be 8/1 or less at that stage......

Could anyone tell me though why Kilkenny went out in the betting, Tipp shortened and Galway remained unchanged after the league. I agree with kilkenny lengthening and as an accumulator the 11/8 is rubbish as betting on them each match and a martingale startegy will get you better odds. Tipp shorten? don't understand....Galway not to shorten don't understand either.

Odds on favourites to win either are not good value. Far better as Pudders says to lump on individual games. Even just from point of view of who Cats are likely to have to beat on the way - and I think they will go all the way - you will get them at 4/6 or 4/7 in at least one of those matches, maybe even at a better price depending on how the likes of Galway and Tipp are looking. If Cats and Galway played in Leinster final tomorrow what would the betting be? I reckon maybe 4/7 cats, 2/1 Galway.

Bodog(never heard of them) blue square and VC bet are all 5/2, powers, boyles and bruces 9/4 and ladbrokes and betpack 2/1 on CORK

got a link from mate of mine, works for an indo and they claim Cork are good things too
when a bookie is telling you, cork are good things a man might start to get worried and believe the hype machine is in overdrive
