For heavens sake, we will never hear the end of their win at the weekend.I still cannot see them progressing though.Westport and Mayo gaels to go through, for our sake or we will be hearing more nonsense about how "great" Achill are !

Well it must have been that long bus journey for the haunis men, thats why they lost!!! was it jason??? Or maybe Achill are a decent fooball team???

I think Achill will progress from the group. Ballyhaunis and Mayo Gaels are playing awful football this year so to not qualify would be a disgrace.

A disgrace? I think thats a bit much, Achill only came up from junior this year, ballyhaunis hav some very good players, including mayo's best defender... In all honesty, it will be a good achievement for achill to get out of that group... Not many thought they could do that at the start of the year...

Achill should be looking to get out of the group at the very least..

bang bang- achill put to the sword by westport- think we can stop all the nonsense - it was men v boys in all senses of the word and westport had loads of yound lads out- step too far for achill now i hope the supporters will get a bit realistic or at least know their place- colm caff is an excellent footballer by the way, he remind me or austin o malley with louisburgh

Westport put in a serious shift yesterday and will take some stopping in this cship. They have great pace throughout the team. Achill struggled up front but were still there with ten to go until westport got their goal.. I expect them to regroup and beat Mayo Gaels but thats as far as they will go.

Oh wow ballboy, u'v shown us now, after all, everybody said achill would beat westport... Wait a minute, nobody said it, it was the opposite... Ur absence was noted when westport were under pressure over the lst few games...

Achill use of the ball was poor, they won alot of it but just ran into trouble and gave it away... Their full back was very good... Westport were the better team and showed more class...

I think what happened to us yesterday is nothing short of a disgrace. We played 3 championship games winning one of them by 4 points and another by 8 and we are eliminated. The only scoreline that would ensure that we were gone was if Ballyhaunis
won by eight . if they won by seven they were gone and if they won by nine Westport were gone.
I think there should be an inquiry into this especially as Westport scored 2 points in injury time.

I dont know how you can make an enquiry into this. From the outside it looked like Achill may have been shafted but i heard that Achill were 13 points up with 10 mins to go and were well aware that ballyhaunis were winning and that it would be decided by points difference. They shipped some soft late scores which cost them dear in the end. Take it on the chin lads. Ye maintained intermediate status. I'm sure ye would have taken that at the start of the year if ye were offered it

Achill very unlucky with the way things turned out yesterday. Having played and being bet my all teams in that group we're in serious trouble. Thought Achill played really well but missed alot of chances other teams would have finished. We had only scored 3 points after 50 minutes so both Ballyhaunis & Westport can thank us. Also we should have bet both of those teams so its agonising to see that these two 'big' teams played out such a result yesterday..

There no shrinking violets in those experienced clubs. It's no coincidence that our game finished 10 minutes ahead of theres. Both teams knew what would get them through and low and behold guess what happens. Thats not takin anything away from Ballyhaunis, a savage win and good luck but whats happenin in Westport?? If there were any justice they would be out. If only we could have finished them off in the Abbey when we were over them. Achill will have to be wiser to this in future but they are young and have a great future ahead if they stick together.

We're gonna have to regroup in the relegation play-off. Massive game for the club

Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

How are ye now lads, serios outfit and all that ye are, already here complaining about a conspiracy in our game against Westport - we'd only have loved to have knocked them out, take ye out of Achill and we'd have hammered ye and all. Backbone of Mayo GAA - ah ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

And by the way, our win over Westport was no fluke, once we're playing teams who try playing ball against us we're pretty good, its just having to play the likes of ye down on a beach that kills us

well jason, you must have been sick when achill beat the great 'haunis, you been 2 months waiting to write this post. Achill maintained their intermediate status and thats the main thing. Achill also showed that they can mix it with the likes of the great ballyhaunis. Achill's misses were crucial in the deciding factor of not advancing in the championship, and not depending on other results.

Please note that UncleGerry is not from Achill, read his posts again Jason, i assume english is not your forte! You go on to slag Achill about their pitch, thats some sportsmanship.

I seem to remember Achill agreeing to call of the league game when their was a death in Ballyhaunis, you dont hear Achill harping on about getting the points. You need to get things into context. Acail Abu!!!!!!

In all seriousness guys, westport didnt know whether they had done enough. They were all just standing on the pitch waiting. Paul Prenty kicked a scorable free wide with the very last kick. He went for it too. If that had gone over, Achill were through

Have a look again there Saddam - it was Aaron4 that was claiming there was a conspiracy, unclegerry was saying there couldn't have been - "I assume English is not your forte!"

And why bring up the death that caused the game to be cancelled? Whats that got to do with the price of cabbage?

I'd prefer ye to be through rather than Westport because Westport are a far better team than ye, but as much as we did what we could for Achill ye just weren't good enough to help yerselves
