Liverpool Fans obsessed with Manchester United..

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Why are Liverpool fans so concerned with Man Utd and Sir Alex Ferguson. Nearly every comment on here is about Utd and Sir Alex Ferguson. United would not consider Liverpool to be rivals any more cause they are such an average team. This should worry Liverpool fans more

It seems to work both ways.

I see Guardiola could equal the "legend" fergie after two years in management.

He must be some boy, unless Fergie is not a legend.

We are not interested in United. Its not just Liverpool fans either, the only person associated with Football that likes Fergie is Sam Allardyce.

Here we go again. Jim Henson's favourite creation comes out with another sweeping statement. No mention of 'how' Guardiola could equal Fergie. This is just proof that Patrique is a troll and cannot help himself when it comes to United.

Please refrain from giving this guy an audience - anyone new to this site, Patrique sees himself as a smart poster but he's just a WUM who seems to have little else in life than this message board.

Alex Ferguson won two Champions League's with United in 25 years, this could easily have been none.

Pep Guardiola looks like winning two Champions League's in two years, playing the type of football United could only dream about.

You do the maths

What European competitions would United have been playing in in those 5 years? Other than 87/88 when United came second which in those days meant UEFA cup, United would not have qualified for nothing else. Bit of a mute point there Tipple

The champions League came into being in the 1991/92 season, so how can you make reference to 25 years. Maybe you should do the maths :-)

As for the football, Barcelona play superb football, but surely a manager has to construct a side as he wants? All credit to Guardiola, he has done a superb job, but let's not forget Riijkaard did something similar in 2006 (CL & Primera double) and by 2008 Barca's fans wanted him out when United eased past Barca 1-0 in the 2008 semi final. Ferguson has achieved the longevity in his job, success in different countries and repeated success that only maybe Jose Mourinho can dream about.

QED.

slayer - How would you rate Fergie in European success though. I don't mean to come across as bitter or petty here but in the 17 years since he's been winning prem league titles, they've contested 3 champions league finals. Granted, the level of the premiership and influx of money has changed things greatly during that period but at the same time I can't remember too many European nights where United have played the best and beaten the best.

Also United fans, just out of interest,

This is Rafa's 6th season in charge of Liverpool, (06-10) since then he has

1 Champions League (04/05)
1 Uefa Super Cup (2005)
1 FA Cup (05/06)
1 Community Shield (2006)

(They were also beaten finalists in 2007 and Current Semi-Finalist in 2010 Europa League)

In Fergies 1st 6 years in charge (86-92)

1 League Cup (91/92)
1 Community Shield (90)
1 FA Cup (89/90)
1 Cup Winners Cup (90/91)
1 Super Cup (91)

Now, Who's 1st 6 years looks more impressive?? Liverpool aren't jealous of United, Their history speaks for itself. Why would they be jealous of a team who has the same number of league trophies as them, and about half the number of European cups?

Father Ted Crilly

I just don't care who has the better record. I'm immensely proud of United & comparisons only lead to rows, so I suggest Liverpool fans enjoy their lot & we enjoy ours.

Full credit to Liverpool though. Other clubs get to the last rounds of the Europa/UEFA Cup and think it's better to finish 4th in their own league than win a trophy. Congrats to both Liverpool and Fulham on being true football clubs and trying to win trophies rather than earn more money by finishing 4th.

Fr. Ted, I think Ferguson actually improved the Manchester United team in his first 6years, Liverpool have gotten worse.
