1996 Clare v Limerick was a savage game. Had great hurling, drama, rivalry, intensity, atmosphere, Summer heat... It was brilliant even if it was heartbreaking.

1999 Offaly v Cork was another excellent match. Saw it on Tg4 a few months ago. Switched it on and thought the last few minutes were on as it ws so hectic and end to end. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire second half after that!!!

I know I'm being biased but my faves are 1994 Offaly v Limerick, 1998 Offaly v Clare (The 3rd match of the trilogy). It was in Thurles and the atmosphere was the best I experienced anywhere.
And both the 1999 and 2000 All Irelands semis v Cork were fantastic games.

1996 All Ireland Final Limerick v Wexford was a very poor game - very scrappy with too much at stake for both.

1996 Leinster final Offaly v Wexford on the other hand - now that was a proper game of hurling. Point for point, goal for goal, slap for slap. And a grandstand finish by Wexford. Seems so long ago now.

Much and all as the All-Ireland in 1996 was unforgettable in Wexford, the Leinster final was the moment of the year. As well as being a far better game. Looking back at that final, it was a truly rubbish game.

The best games of the 1990's were Wexford v Kilkenny in 1993, but in my view the best game overall was Clare v Limerick in 1996.

The back door has eroded that do-or-die mentality - hurling games were more intense back then than they are now. Anyone agree?

that game between galway and kilkenny i think it was 01, very high scoring and young broderick i think it was from galway running from his own half back line with the ball and pucking it over the bar. one of the scores of the decade.

The games that stands out most for me are two Galway should have won, the q/f in Thurles v KK in 97, they were 10 points up before half time and the great DJ beat them on his own in the 2nd half. The other is the Final in 90 when they scored 2-12 in the 1st half, where Joe Cooney was increadible and then conceded 4 2nd half goals to not a great Cork side. Both great games and typical Galway collapses, Jesus they have thrown away some amount of games in the last 20 years!!

Down v. Cork in 1992 was a great game of Hurlen. Brian Corcran & Ger McGratten to of the stars that day. Also, fantastic atmosphere that day at Croke.

2005 I think. Or was it as far back as 2001?

But not the 90s.

Clare v Limerick in 1996 was on TG4 last year, i thought it was dire, you can make your own minds up - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEAT1iLK4a0

Wexford v Offaly from the same year was a great match. I'll post a link when a watchable version's on Youtube (next week sometime).
