Drogheda was half full for the Tyrone game because the GAA made it an all ticket and limited capacity to 4'500, there was war over it because a lot of genuine fans didn't get tickets, i remember there was a lot of fighting at the gate that day. We have waited long enough for a stadium to accept a shared ground with the smallest capacity in the country, we need our own stadium that could host a championship game even if it is against Meath. Longford struggled to get the home advantage against Dublin a few year back because their 14'000 capacity was seen as being to small so what chance would we have of playing any decent team at home. Was talking about a match not a stadium in that particular post withualltheway. Similarly I could ask you what slagging off Eamon Mc Eneaney has to do with building a stadium. Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6177 - 01/04/2010 15:03:38 606470 Link 0 |

Lets just say we should leave well enough alone on that one. Happy Easter. Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6177 - 01/04/2010 17:05:02 606663 Link 0 |
Maybe this is what happens when the county board try to discuss it. Louth Gael (Louth) - Posts: 1227 - 01/04/2010 20:09:45 606888 Link 0 |

Why would the G.A.A. part-fund a stadium that they would never own ? I am not aware of this ever happening before and believe that they would not go for it. The G.A.A. have always strived to own their grounds and that is what makes this amateur organisation unique. Can't see this ever happening !! This whole stadium thing is a real pain in the rear end now. joseff (Louth) - Posts: 964 - 05/04/2010 13:26:58 608965 Link 0 |
the gaa do own it, they will get it back. just like renting a house, there is only so much work you will do on it yourself as you have to hand it back at the end. its up to the landlord to maintain and spend the hard cash on it because he owns it drogheda20 (Louth) - Posts: 405 - 06/04/2010 08:32:57 609552 Link 0 |

What controversy? As I have stated here many, many times there will be no new stadium. There is no money available in the county or from Croke park. When money was available there was no urgency at county board level to make it happen so that opportunity has been lost. Drogheda has the county grounds and these grounds are more than capable of hosting Louths league Div 3 or Div 4 games in the future. gpa.no.way (Louth) - Posts: 104 - 26/04/2010 20:16:57 630362 Link 0 |

DKIT should focus on developing football in the college before they dream up stadiums that will never happen. joseff (Louth) - Posts: 964 - 03/06/2010 16:42:04 666872 Link 0 |

i know a lot of underlying problems with rats and county ground but guarantee you these would have been long ago sorted out if the gaelic grounds were in dundalk there is a large section of north louth gaa who dont want grounds in drogheda thats a fact and there not too bothered about sorting out the county ground in drogheda auldson (Louth) - Posts: 143 - 03/06/2010 20:06:05 667046 Link 0 |
