Heard from a reliable source that there is a firm option on the table for a Brand New Stadium for Louth, 8,000 to 10,000 seater at the DKIT. Half funded by College other half from GAA. Nothing to be paid by Louth County board. Stadium would be available to all sports but would be rented at half price to Louth county teams. Template for stadium is show in link below. eh_Yeah_OK (Louth) - Posts: 7 - 30/03/2010 19:20:31 604518 Link 0 |
Looked at it. Would be perfect for our requirements. Hope MR gets to see it. He'll be frothing at the mouth and rightly so. Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6177 - 30/03/2010 20:19:00 604621 Link 0 |

The county board are broke with so much debt wasting it on darver when they could have built a compact stadium(5000 to 10000 capacity)for half the money wayne10 (Louth) - Posts: 137 - 31/03/2010 10:55:13 604883 Link 0 |
i think this DKIT idea was bandied about sevral months ago in the dundalk argus. I dunno if it will go ahead. The money isnt even there from the third level point of few to build something like this or even keep jobs in the place. It would be great though. sneachta (None) - Posts: 414 - 31/03/2010 11:35:34 604940 Link 0 |
Wayne10 you really are going to have to tell me what you have for breakfast in the morning because once I read your posts I am sure I will have to steer clear of your breakfast menu. Off the wall or what. How much did Darver cost and how much would a stadium cost ? Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6177 - 31/03/2010 11:38:57 604948 Link 0 |
It is still a little small, the smallest intercounty ground in the country and it wouldn't really be ours, i know it is bigger capacity than we get a most games but it would still prevent us from hosting a big championship game and that is what we need a stadium for. The GAA has listed us as a county in need of a stadium so when we finally decide on where to build it we would have the financial support. louth geal do u want 60,000 seater or something. it a start withualltheway (Louth) - Posts: 570 - 31/03/2010 12:54:26 605085 Link 0 |
No what we need is something like Parnel park or pearse stadium in Longford, somewhere between 12 and 15'000. If this was used by the Louth team the county board would get lazy and we would never have a proper home ground. Louth Gael (Louth) - Posts: 1227 - 31/03/2010 13:03:44 605109 Link 0 |

i agree MR louth would struggle to fill it even at 10,000 withualltheway (Louth) - Posts: 570 - 31/03/2010 14:27:06 605261 Link 0 |
There have been county finals with near ten thousand at them and if we get any big team in the championship qualifiers we would need at least a 10'000 stadium, why would we settled for having the smallest stadium in the country, we have to look to the future and hope to achieve some success which will bring the crowds out again, obviously the attendances are low at the minute but we want to turn that around and settling for a stadium of this size isn't exactly being optimistic for the future.
