Is Tyrone a lost cause as they fail yet again?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I thought the following post from Ger of Omagh worth putting up here. Well put man!

GOALKEEPERS
Nothing happening here same old same old. Cost us a couple of points yesterday with poor kick outs.

FULL BACKS
McMahon is excellent but what have we got in the corners?

HALF BACK
The line is creaking; if Horse was dropped because he was off the pace I would suggest that Conor Gormley has the same problem. We have not explored too many alternatives which raises some concerns.

MIDFIELD
Colm Cavanagh is now making nice progress and in comparison to previous campaigns we have options, in particular Cassidy and McGinley but the Hub is down the pecking order.

HALF FORWARDS
We miss the running and ball winning intensity of Dooher, we have no guile in the centre but we do have Joe McMahon! Unfortunately Raymond Mulgrew will not be fulfilling his potential, at least not this year and Brian McGuigan is a pale shadow of himself.

FULL FORWARDS
Potentially a surplus of options with O'Neill, Cavanagh, Mulligan, Penrose, McCullagh. Tommy McGuigan looks off the pace; his performance on a par with last year.

So I fear we will not be winning an All Ireland this year and although Micky was confident that he has a team when I met him in Tuam I am not too sure.

Dromorethegreat people like you totally sicken me. It must be great to be such a know it all. The joke is you bad mouth Micky Harte now but when we are Ulster Cahmpions this year and pushing for SAM you'll probably be the first shouting how great Micky is. We are missing SON for me the best forward in Ireland big Sean is just back from injury let him get 2 tough games against Kerry and Dublin under his belt that will set him up nicely for our first round Ulster Championship game against Antrim, Phillip Jordan will be back soon hopefully, and no doubt Super Dooher will have his part to play this year. Replace Micky with who wise up man he's the best Manager Tyrone have ever had, this is when true Tyrone Supporters will stand behind the Manager and players whenever things are not going well it's easy to support a team when they are winning, which I have Total Faith we will later in the year. Tir'Eoghain Abu'.

"fortyfive" please leave 'The_Lug_Coa' alone. You appear from your username a dinosaur from the past and your referenence to a college in Fermanagh is incorrect mate as it is called the South West College. There are many lugs up and down the country who may not have the best education but whose views should not be rdiculed because of their standard of englisn. You sound pompous in your statement but I notice your have nothing worthwhile to cintribute about your own county's plight. alone. Interesting to see that so many Fermanagh people so concerned about the plight of Tyrone, looking at division 4 football next year would concern me more than worrying about Tyrone slipping into division 2 I apologise to 'the Lug Coa' if he/she had not got the best education I rather foolishly thought that it was TEXT speak that was being used which is a pet hate of mine .

Dromorethegreat maybe you should run for the job yourself if you think you have all the answers. Who would you get rid off and what sweeping changes would you make to turn the team around? I in the past have judged Mickey 2005 when he brought Mark Harte on against Francie Bellew and Tyrone got beaten in the replay by Armagh which wasn't Mickeys fault though I did at the time question his judgment. At the end of that Year Mickey delivered All Ireland no 2 2008 Beaten off the pitch by Down in Newry again I thought it was the end and Mickey Delivered All Ireland no 3.

I am not saying that Tyrone have been playing well on the contrary they have been poor and haven't been far away I think possibly Galway were more up for the game yesterday. We were horrible in Omagh last week and got 2 points so what does that tell you. Had the tree men who should never have been suspended after the Derry match lined out against Mayo we would have four points. Dublin aside no one in the league has been playing at a consistent level and it would seem their bubble has burst. The effort is there from Tyrone although it has not been matched by results players who previously weren't given some game time are now been thrown in i.e Aidan Cassidy and have done well enough considering their age. Mickey is not foolish enough to think the older boys will play forever.

To sum up experience has taught us not to rule these boys out I would prefer to judge Mickey in September. In the short term I back them to avoid relegation by winning their last two games.

Charlie- methinks we may be judging Mickey much earlier than September. I hope I am wrong but the problems seem to be much more deep rooted this year.

It's a typical that the likes of CharlieHarper and TyroneUltra to come on here and defend the indefensible. What planet are these guys living on? How many games have they attended this season? So we have these posters living on the prospect of yesterday's glory days and thinking that some magie wand is going to be waved by Micky come the championship and all will be okay. As some others have said that we should fear Antrim and that put our future true perpective. Future I might ask, but what future. It's time to get bold and face up to facts as the championship won't be like the league where we get plenty of outings to prove ourselves and going by what we have seen this year we are doomed.

PS. I believe the above posters have singled me out not because they know I'm telling it the way things are with our county team but because I'm from Dromore and we know plenty of you hated to see Dromore succeed.

Gosh alot views here must be because the whole country are peeping in to see what Tyrone has to say for itself.

They must be in disarray when you see the once solid supporters of Tyrone and their manager now fighting on here.

Has the penny dropped at last???

clintonscigar your 100% correct! ninja mustn't go to the games when he is trying to correct me about a player's ability or the lack of it as I see. You'll find that I rearly wrong and I believe Tyrone can get out of this crisis if they are managered properly. As it was said recently in one of the papers that the manager has got side-tracked by his own self importance, booking writing, speeches, etc., and this has been to the team's great disadvantage. In essence he has taken his eye off the ball.
I'm sorry to admit that we as a football county are becoming a laughingstock and the sooner we get the team management sorted the better for Tyrone.

Dromorethegreat - Just for your information I would would say unlike yourself I have attended every Tyrone game so far this season not just League but McKenna cup games as well, why so negative, defend the undefendable wise up man you sound like you have'nt a clue, or else as I have already stated you are one of these knowalls who know nothing.

Is a change of management going to bring about change at this stage ? I've posed this question before what players would you bring in and who all would you drop.

Looking at Tyrone yesterday I think the worst aspect of their performance was the fact nobody seemed to know what anyone else was doing.
I suppose the McMahons, Cassidy, McCullough and Penrose tried hard but the rest were poor at best.
The goalie didn't seem to be able to direct his kickouts.
I was very unimpressed by Swift who has no idea how to mark a forward at all apart from letting him win the ball without a contest and then let him run past him. But in defence he wasn't alone.
Colm Cavanagh was no better than middling at midfield.
Up front we had three men who were all at sea. The occasion was definitely too much for McAnulla, Mulgrew will never make it and Tom McGuigan is living on past glories.
I dont know how the holes will be plugged!
Its ok calling for the manager to resign but who would replace him? Certainly not the lads who have been in charge of the Under 21s and minors in recent times as their main abilities would seem to be to turn wine into water......

this is only the league, tyrone should still stay up and if they dont whats the harm...And i think the galway men etc. should be quiet until they beat a credible team when it counts and tyrone beat them out the gate last time out when it counted...

Is it the Tyrone players or manager that is to blame for the county's demise in the league?
