Is Tyrone a lost cause as they fail yet again?

Well the Galway 'Tribe' ensure Tyrone totter on the brink of relegation following this 1-15 to 0-14 defeat to Galway!

The Tribesmen led by 1-7 to 0-6 at half time, having playing against the wind in the first half. Matthew Clancy blasted the decisive Galway goal in the fifth minute after Tyrone had opened the scoring through a Martin Penrose (0-8) free. The hosts added a point against the wind courtesy of Gary Sice.

Centre back Diarmuid Blake stretched the gap before Colm Cavanagh pointed for Tyrone. Clancy added a point but Colm McCullagh and Penrose replied for the O'Neill County - 1-3 to 0-4 after 23 minutes. The next two points were shared, with Penrose again on target for the visitors.Galway finished the half strongly with three unanswered points from Sice, Eoin Concannon and Clancy to lead by four at half time.

Mickey Harte made three changes at the break but Galway added three more points from Concannon, Nicky Joyce and Clancy to lead by 1-10 to 0-6 five minutes into the second half. Galway had scored six in a row either side of the break but the introduction of Sean Cavanagh spurred the O'Neill men to life and they roared back with five in a row, including four from Penrose and one from Cavanagh, 1-10 to 0-11. Concannon's free steadied the hosts, who led by three with 15 minutes left. Joe Bergain (2) and Cormac Bann were also on target as Joe Kernan's team held on to win by four.

Now as Tyrone return to the baran hills of the once proud county they are more or less in tatters with them looking down the trpdoor at division 2. Are they now a llost cause or can they survive...you decide?

Well what have our northern redhands to say today? Squirming I would imagine at Galway's great win today. It was brilliant considering we were without our main scoring forwards at the moment. Cannot understand why Tyrone are sinking this yar but at the way things are going they will go nowhere in the championship unless their favourite backdoor helps them salvage some respect. Again well done to our lads.

I am disappointed and hurt by Tyrone's struggling performances in the league so far and even the win over Cork didn't bring much excitement. However, at the end of the day its only the league and its taking Tyrone longer to come out of the starting blocks than usual. Nevertheless, Im still optimistic about us come championship time because theres no denying the quality of our boys when it really matters.

It is non-untypical of Tyrone in the league. This last few years we seem to just hang on to top-flight football in the last game of the season. It was a weakened Tyrone side but of course so was Galway. In saying that the loss of Meehan may have actually have helped Galway as other players are now taking responsibility. Galway seem to be adapting quite well to the Armagh Template, with crossfield attacks and saturated defence. Their ball handling has been very good as well. They maintain possession very sensibly even patiently moving the ball backwards 30-40 years until a player becomes available. The way Galway run down the clock shows the confidence they have on the ball now. Joe is doing something right there.

I am sure Tyrone will beat Kerry next weekend and probably Dublin as well which will leave them safe enough with the decent momentum going into the championship where they will meet a tough enough challange against Antrim.

In all fairness we will have to bow to your superior knowledge on laughing stocks.

I see the mayotyroneman is very quiet following Tyrone's defeat yesterday.
Also, I see someone says that the Tyrone manager, Mickey Harte is complaining again and it's about our Tuam grass? What is that all about?

I wouldnt worry too much about the league. It all comes down to the championship and thats where Tyrone will be there at the business end.

think its time to rebuild - i think most of the older heads (who gave us great days and 3 all irelands) aren't what they were and collectively don't haveanother all ireland in them but if we concentrate a few seasons on blooding the really young it will work out in the long run! I think mickey should go and get someone to bring in fresh ideas!

No call for any knee jerk reactions lads. I have to say I was relatively confident that we would have picked up two points yesterday given the injury problems that Galway are suffering and the hammering they got at the hands of Kerry. But obviously that hammering hurt Galway and they were a more determined outfit. I think as they could also have been dragged into the relegation dogfight had they lost yesterday this certainly made yesterdays match a tough one.

I would also have expected Kerry to beat Mayo but they didn't so it shows how fickle football is and especially at this time of the year.

The only defeat that was disappointing was the Derry one as we showed no heart what so ever we were so unlucky against Mayo and Monaghan losing by the minimum margin. I would be confident that Tyrone will be up for the Kerry match this Saturday night and will get a result out of it. I would also be confident that they could get a result against an average Dublin side in Omagh also and stay up by the skin of their teeth.

The absence of Stephen O'Neill is a huge factor together with the return of key players such as Cavanagh only getting up to speed again after long absences so we haven't been hammered by anyone and have been beaten twice by the minimum margin. My verdict is best case scenario we stay up by the skin of our teeth and to beat Antrim in the Championship and we'll see after that. Worst case scenario we get relegated if so big deal look at Cork last year I think we would bounce straight back up.

CharlieHarper get a grip man. Where have you been during the league to come up with a whitewash analysis like that? I was at every game and wasn't very impressed yesterday as we should have comfortably seen off Galway.
It is time for a root and branch change to the Tyrone management who, whether we like it or not, are letting our boys down big time. Time for a change and I ask other posters to challenge Harper's comments.
Get real man!

"fortyfive" please leave 'The_Lug_Coa' alone. You appear from your username a dinosaur from the past and your referenence to a college in Fermanagh is incorrect mate as it is called the South West College. There are many lugs up and down the country who may not have the best education but whose views should not be rdiculed because of their standard of englisn. You sound pompous in your statement but I notice your have nothing worthwhile to cintribute about your own county's plight.
