Cardinal Brady......Should he go?

Yes he should go, and he has some neck on him if he stays.
The Catholic church is damaged enough as it is.

I find it very hard to understand that the People i have looked to all my life for moral guidance now can not see the moral issues and insist on hiding behind some obscure legal guidlines. How the hell can these representatives of the Church of Christ ask little Children to hide theiir abuse. A different idea of "suffer the little children"

589928 I have to say I'm getting completely disillusioned with the church.
GETTING? Where have you been up to now?

589957 I listened to Monsignor Corry on Radio Ulsters's Talkback programme today defending Cardinal Brady..........and got angrier and angrier at him. He said that the Church had NO moral obligation to report abusers to the police......

They had another egg head on RTE radio yesterday, with exactly the same speel. Heard a female version of the same thing on radio today, its obviously all coming from the same source,, Of course the script says these people are all expressing their own opinions, in the hope that if you say it often and loud enogh someone will believe it.

So let them be, who have had sex with children!
And turn Your rage on those who turned their eyes,
Intending to defend Your church with lies!
Nor were they ever fit for Your dominion!
These hypocrites are far worse than the poor
Polluted souls they moved from place to place,
Avid to avoid undue disgrace,
Trafficking in silence to be sure.
Remember them when You return! For they,
Instead of proper penance, yet remain
Cardinals, bishops, princes in Your name,
Knowing well what price they ought to pay!

Is the man above not ultimately responsible or Mary the mother of God for that matter for failing to protect the innocent and vulnerable children.

There is no such thing as the man above. If there was he would not have allowed these sick acts would have been carried out by members of a reigous institution.
To be honest I believe that the revelations of child sex abuse at the hands of the catholic church is proof that God does not exist.

Silly comment. For a start you don't know if there is a God or not, no one does. If God does exist He probably doesn't have the power to influence the actions of humans, it is called free will.

Even the Deputy first minister agrees that he should resign because of choices he made in the 1970's

Even though I think Cardinal Brady has lost moral authority and should step down Martin McGuinness has a bit of a cheek. Did he ask Gerry Adams to step aside while his brother is being investigated? Bit of a brass neck there Martin.

True - Although not comparable it is also Ironic that he is critical of choices made in the 1970's

The difference with Gerry Adams is that the abuse had finished by the time he found out. In Cardinal Brady's case, by doing nothing he allowed the abuse to continue for another 18 years

That sounds like one straight from the catholic churche's Excuses manual

How did he know that he was not abusing someone else??

In fairness dhorse I'm sure he asked the brother was he still at it when they were campaigning together in Louth. Obviously the answer was "no", so that's alright then.

Although if Gerry himself is to be believed they weren't in contact at all during that time...
