577621 Can anyone fill me in on what problrm the Mayo posters have with Ulster posters and Tyrone ones especially! thanks. ------------------- Its an inferiority complex laflour, they'll grow out of it eventually.
I agree with Diego (County: Meath). The rule does not implicitly state that a player cannot train as training does not necessarily come under the types of activities listed so I would like to see it tested rather than some of the ridiculous cases brought to the DRA level in recent years (including/especially those brought by my own county).
It all comes back to the point around the ridiculous situation whereby suspensions are for periods of time rather than for numbers of matches. Being suspended for a period of time lends it self to having a player suspended from all types of activity whereas suspensions for numbers of matches at same level would be very clear and concise way of dealing with this.
At the moment, technically a player could not attend his club's dinner dance if he were sent off in a club match the week before - Stupid.

I agree that a rule has been broken, but the fact that its not commonly acknowledged to this level, or enforced, the GAA themselves probably dont know how to punish it. The would have to have a rule that clearly states a suspension was broken by something other than playing in a match to repremand it I doubt they have that. Theres probably tons of grey areas around certain rules like this that hasnt been highlighted before & arent examined by the top brass.
The GAA are also in a position where the would be publicly lambasted over increasing a players ban further over something like this when it lacks all common sense & rational.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not denying a rule has been broken, but sometimes common sense is the best outcome.
577996 Interesting interpretation of the rule there Diego, perhaps someone should bring a challenge before the CCCC, CAC, DRA or whatever the correct acronym is.
The GAA rule book really needs to be torn up and re-written from scratch.
As a reiteoir I agree completely nocky.Dell if you are suspended I think you can train away with the team,I have as yet to see a rule to the contrary.I may be wrong. If you are involved with an underage team and you are suspended yourself from playing, say you got sent off in a senior/junior game, then you are not permitted to be on the sideline with the underage team. This is not rite in my opinion. As nocky says the rule book needs editing big-time.
Galvin told not to train with Kerry until ban is completed
Kerry Football Just when you thought it was safe to pick up a newspaper and not find Paul Galvin's name brandished across the GAA pages this happens. The association's director general Pádraic Duffy informed the Kerry County Board yesterday that their suspended team captain is not allowed return to training with Pat O'Shea's panel.
Galvin togged out earlier this week for his first session since his dismissal, and subsequent 24-week suspension, in the Munster championship semi-final against Clare on June 15th.
