How is the league at the moment?? Has Barnabass win it or are EGB and Macs still in with a chance? Are there any games left to play?

did someone make a suggestion of bad managerial decisions forgive me if im wrong, but saint barnabas has been down and out for several years and have just gave macks a good run for their money. this would suggest that whoever thier managment team are, are rather succsefull at what they do. well done to all the barnabas lads a cracking season.

People have taken what was said out of context. The management has been great for Barnabas and to get them where they are today a lot of good and hard work has gone in. On the day of the final a couple of decisions were made that were not so great and this has been admitted.

without the main man firing they couldnt do the business and win a c'ship final. he missed countless free's in the first half from well within his range and the 1-on-1 miss should be enough to retire the lad! They were given a lot by the ref in the first half and missed a fair few free's from positions that would normally see the ball over the bar.

Macs had a lot of luck, but it was more a case of StB having bad luck.

mixed reactions, one hand macs turned it around and won in champions style, on the other StB should have buried it. either way great final from arguably the 2 best teams around this season.

any early odds for next season? surely with another season training and recruiting StB are a great earlybird?!

does anyone on here give any credit to Sheridan, his name is rarely mentioned but he absoloutely destroyed his man just roasted him every time. His brother won the cic fada on Sun too so would have been a nice double. Just like to say how impressed I am with St B's this past year. I have never had cause to post anything up to this point but I have followed the matches and this forum intensely and I'd like to take this opportunity to adhere my support of the management over the course of the season to bring a team with plenty of talent but not necessarily the fitness and gumption, and deliver them to a final and have them sitting in a position to win the league. I do recall them playing in the intermediate last season so a top performance from all involved. I personally hope they have the vigour to take the league as a just reward for the effort they have put in. As for O'Hara, although I disagree with the decision to leave him out of the starting 15... isn't it a tribute to the whole team that a player who could walk into many Warwickshire teams be left out of a game of this magnitude. I think he is sporting enough to realise that there are no outstanding players in St B's any more and I firmly believe that he will bounce back from this a better player. We would all like his vision and turn of pace and Barnabas are a better team with O'Hara playing well. St Barnabas Till I Die

If the lad Sheridan could shoot, barnabas would have won the game. Unfair to focus on French, he got into lovely scoring positions on several occasions and blazed the ball wide or into the keepers hands. The lad marking him did not have a clue at corner back!! As for next year i think realistically there are only three teams who can win it, Macs, Barnabas and EGB. Either of these would have beat the teams from the other group handily. Dont see how you can name so many Barnabas players as all-stars when Macs won the championship??

i am led to believe this is not the first time that macs have won five in a row, any truth that they have won seven in a row twice, the last one apparently not so many years ago, if this is true thats a fair achievement and would any of the lads playing in sundays game featured in all of these finals.

i would imagine there are more barnabas players named because they played the course of the season. the macs players that played sun have not been around all season. please dont take ths as having ago cos iam sure every team in the county would like this luxury.

has anyone ever seen a bigger crowd supporting a team in Birmingham on Sun. the travelling support from Nottingham was immense, they made some noise. must have outnumbered Macs support by about 15 to 1. they are a credit to St.Barnabas, the city and The Greyfriars.

I don't think all the fans were from Nottingham. Everyone from Wolverhampton, Coventry etc were cheering for Barnabas aswell!

More than half the support on the hill there i'd say were Cov/Bham. There was a fair rake of Casements, Four Masters & St Marys lads there too from the games on before/after the final. Probably cheering on StB.

fair play they took a mini-bus over, but thats standard for a final.

flat out training over here in Derby at the minute , got a couple of challanges coming up against some uni teams , and then into the junior league next year , hard luck on our neighbours there last sunday , a few of us travelled down cheering on the Barnabas lads . i have herd they had a most of this week on the beer , not drowning there sorrows but celebrating what has so far been a great season for them.
I beleive it got messy in the mechanics with all sorts of missiles being directed towards the stage when some dodgy country & western singer came on.
Anyway i have been reading all the comments since the game on sunday with great interest , but im sure that this time next year you will all be talking about the new team in Warwickshire ,Derby!
Fair play to the Barnabas lads , they have shown what can be done if everybody involved with a club puts the effort in, also well done to macs , u cant take it away from them 5 titles in a row , but im not sure if they will retain their squad next year , also i herd that there is a massive increase next year in the price of flights so they better start fundraising now.

Looks like FM are becoming the team the intermediates fancy themselves against. Both Marys & Finbarrs challenging them before their Semi-Final match.

i believe FM beat StM after the final last week by a point or so, and id imagine the same happening against Finbarrs this Sunday.

What are the thoughts on them after getting nailed in Senior football league this season?

St.Mary's should not have lost that game against FM, was their first game in about two months....lol. Ref was the finbarrs manager too!!

Four masters still have a solid enough core to their team, just unfortunate that they lost a few very good players this year. Would expect that to happen to most clubs in the county, including the almighty Macs!
