irlande County: Fermanagh Posts: 349 531649 From what I know Shane McCabe has been well accepted by the Glentoran fans, here is proof [url=] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMl4FB1A4sQ Ryan McCluskey is currently at Portadown, Rory Gallagher also played there as well. Greater proof lies in the fact that a busload of Glentoran supporters travelled all the way from East Belfast to the backend of Fermanagh to watch Shane McCabe play in a club championship game earlier this year. My uncle used to play for the Glens and I have always found that they are decent people who support their club passionately and their players irrespective of religion. Declan Devine played in goals for them and he was engaged to the Deputy First Ministers daughter. No problems for him either. Alas back to the question, Joey Cunningham played quite a number of years with Portadown and was a cult hero even though he was a county player for Armagh.

Well as I said, true Linfield men are not concerned with bigotry but an interesting bit of trivia for you. In the past (not sure when) Linfield changed their colours to red ,white and blue and lo and behold their fan base increased enormously. Its obvious that the hangers on would choose to follow a team with these colours rather than Glentoran(who wear green).

Like Rangers, Linfield are not the club they were in the past. I may be wrong but was there not a camogie team using their training faciities recently?

Some of you may also remember Alan McKnight, protestant GAA player who played in goal for Celtic.

Alamn McKnight also played in goal for my club, St Comgall's GAC in Antrim Town.

And I think it was my "family" club, Rossa in Belfast, who trained at Windsor Park.

I played music in the social club in it. Same as everywhere else, all they wanted to hear was "Fields of Athenry".

I HATE that song.

Tim McCann who won trophies with Cliftonville and Glentoran is a former Pearses player. Didn't get too much abuse at the Glens. I've never went to an Irish League game so I can't comment on the fans. I only know that Tim McCann was accepted by the Glens fans because he was a great player.

Oh, you mean west Belfast? You are a Brit by birth. West Brit has to be bestowed on you by The Uber Nationalists, hating any of the icons gets you included straight away. I suppose you you'll be admitting to eating english mustard next.

The term West Brit is an often pejorative term for an Irish person who is alleged by the user of the term to be excessively sympathetic to the United Kingdom or who takes his cultural and social cues from Great Britain

In reality anyone who disagrees with them on any subject. Its a common trait among nationalists all over the world. They put a label on their adversaries that will sit easily with the rabble
