James T, Meath Hill, Drumconrath & Drumbaragh players deserve their place on any county side as much as any senior club player, the problem with the Meath panel today is that they lack hunger, heart and passion. They are more interested in the so-called 'profile' of being a county footballer and hitting the town after a match win, lose or draw. Too many prima donna's and sure you're probably another of the ex st Pats school brigade who likes to hang out with the 'big boys' on the panel. It's all a bit too american football college quarter back-esque for my liking but then I'm a traditionalist. bennyblanco (Meath) - Posts: 579 - 22/01/2010 14:53:48 540007 Link 0 |
I have only heard of Barry Kieran who was captain of the best Meath Junior team of the last few years ironicaly enough form Meath Hill. Were Meath Hill not ahinnialated by the two Junior finalists in the group stages and suffered othe defeats as well? Drumbaragh are a nice little team but little is the word. They played against our seconds a few years ago and apart from the two Smith brothers they were very small. None of there players should make the grade. Iv seen Skelly play for Meath, hes a good player. These teams are all Junior. Why are we even talking about them. The bulk of the side would be made up from Intermediate clubs surely. Its not a complete graveyard of a grade! Back to the tadg Boyle thing. I have seen his name mentioned a few times here and a friend of mine involved in the Simonstown second string set up went to see the final group match in the Junior against kells to see their potential quarter final opponents would be. Meath Hill were wiped out and demolished that day. If he was so good surely he would have stood out in a JUNIOR group match. And another thing. Those ex Meath players would ensure a level of strenght and experience that average club players could not provide and some of them should definately be integrated. Cullinane, Maguire, Magee and Geraghty for sure! James T (Meath) - Posts: 611 - 22/01/2010 16:34:35 540148 Link 0 |
