john divilly hasn't played for galway this decade i believe! and himself and hanley corner backs would get roasted alive by any half decent corner forward pairing! hanley is easily the best full back of the decade taking nothing away from gary fahy finnian hanley is just an outstanding talent puff_daddy (Galway) - Posts: 56 - 06/12/2009 18:41:22 505113 Link 0 |

ya but he only played one year out of the ten and that manages a place? unfortunately were arguing over this position for the wrong reasons as we've had many keepers. here's to next year lads. midfieldmaster (Galway) - Posts: 88 - 07/12/2009 13:54:19 505879 Link 0 |
most of the lads mentioned would get on any decade the likes of Fahy, Mannion, Joyce, Fallon, Donnellan, Meehan, Mac etc but i wouldnt include Divilly or O Domhnaill. But for this decade only Joyce and Meehan have given enough to be included. maryward (Galway) - Posts: 337 - 07/12/2009 14:07:22 505891 Link 0 |

No.1 - Mickey Crimmins - defo in goal - always competitive. hurler81 (Galway) - Posts: 37 - 08/02/2011 11:18:55 862966 Link 0 |
lads, will ye stop talking about teams of the decade. Our footballers over the past 10 years based on their championship record would probably be ranked 30th and are working hard to achieve 32nd place, whereas the hurlers hav'nt won an All Ireland since 1988. No wonder the other counties regard us as a soft touch, always harping on about former glories. neveranygood (Galway) - Posts: 72 - 08/02/2011 12:08:35 863004 Link 0 |
its good to be supportive to lads who have put their heart and sole into playing for club county and country hurler81 (Galway) - Posts: 37 - 08/02/2011 12:13:01 863006 Link 0 |
The fact that John Lee (6) & Joe Rabbite (11) feature on so many of the hurling teams is a sign of just how poor we have been in both positions for the last 10 years. Rabbite hasn't played on the Galway team for ages (was it 02 or 03, i can't remember) and Lee was on the team for 1/2 seasons (and wasn't exactly outstanding or Tony Og would never have replaced him). a.o.b. in a way - thats my point - yeah these guys may be past their best but worked hard when they did figure - surely there would be some advantage in using the experience of rabbitte/ cloonan/ crimmins and build on this?? hurler81 (Galway) - Posts: 37 - 08/02/2011 14:58:37 863190 Link 0 |
