It has been put to me by a Clontibret man that if ALL junior clubs joined together they would have no chance of beating Clontibret! I think this is pure ignorence on behalf of him as he has only seen one junior match this year, Woud like to hear your opinion on this and if there was a amalgamation of junior who would make it nd wat would be ur team?? big30 (Monaghan) - Posts: 30 - 01/12/2009 11:43:24 499277 Link 0 |
He could have a point but anyway the junior team would be: DACLUBMAN (Monaghan) - Posts: 82 - 01/12/2009 13:15:32 499378 Link 0 |
Daclubman, every club in the county has players missing through injury, travels, work commitments or just losing child prodigys to other walks of life so it is impossible to come out with a team of "what if's" that would/could be senior when every other club is in the same boat..... statattack (Monaghan) - Posts: 19 - 01/12/2009 15:36:11 499522 Link 0 |

i agree, that team would get destroyed by intermediate teams let alone senior champs. much better selection in my opinion would be dbiglad (Monaghan) - Posts: 17 - 01/12/2009 18:57:13 499792 Link 0 |
big30 its not ignorance its common sense. i also think that the majority of other people in the county would agree with him. gggg (Monaghan) - Posts: 225 - 01/12/2009 21:28:11 499990 Link 0 |
gggg ..2 or 3 players from the entire junior division not even getting on one of top 5 teams in the county. what a load of rubbish. demondrive (Monaghan) - Posts: 79 - 01/12/2009 21:59:18 500029 Link 0 |
What a snobby thread this is. Well i kno for sure that junior would win hands down in a fight. Brolly (Monaghan) - Posts: 4472 - 01/12/2009 22:43:23 500087 Link 0 |
Brolly, Clontibret were well beat in ulster but id hardly say they were a let down for the county. In ulster you have to going in with no injuries and your best team out and that certainly was not the case for Clontibret this year in Ulster. They had at least four players with injuries including one with a broken wrist!! boc1595 (Monaghan) - Posts: 71 - 02/12/2009 15:04:29 500659 Link 0 |
big30 its just the opinion of one clontibret person. its not right to go and put all of clontibret under a bad light. gggg (Monaghan) - Posts: 225 - 02/12/2009 17:00:22 500816 Link 0 |

what a load of rubbish. every club in juniour has at least one player who would be well capable to play senior football but choose to play with the club they grew up with. A lot has even played county football. they may not look as good because the football is not as high of quality any maybe the players around them are not of as high of quality. take the killanny juniour team for example . Eamon hoey , Adrian campbell and peter Dooley all played minor and u21 county football and andy mcelroy played senior football in Louth. That is just one club. im sure every club has the same . for example flanagan and lambe of toome are good enough for any senior team, as is freeman of clones and dick clerkin. The team chemistry might not be up to scratch to play clontibrib but a juniour selection would put it up to them. killanny09 (Monaghan) - Posts: 94 - 02/12/2009 21:44:33 501289 Link 0 |
We can,t get freeman to play for his own club. edd1 (Monaghan) - Posts: 35 - 02/12/2009 22:21:27 501381 Link 0 |
Freeman is injured and has been for awile. serious groin injury. MickeyJoe01 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1 - 02/12/2009 23:02:20 501461 Link 0 |
I actually agree wi Killany09 for once, ov course d chemistry wuldnt be ryt but in theory they wuld put it up to them, and as for gggg.. i didnt put all of clontibrit in a bad lyt i simply mentioned one man from dat club. big30 (Monaghan) - Posts: 30 - 02/12/2009 23:42:51 501515 Link 0 |
I can't believe what I am reading here. Let's be under no illusions here, junior football is the lowest and most farcical type of football imaginable. I nearly threw the computer out the window when I seen some of the names and clubs mentioned. I will admit that the junior grade players don't lack effort or heart but when it comes to the basics of the game such as catching and kicking they are generally poor which after all is why they are junior. Silly comment! You honestly suggest that there is not even one player on the majority af junior teams that wuldnt walk onto a senior team??? And to say junior players cant catch or kick backs up my point! big30 (Monaghan) - Posts: 30 - 03/12/2009 14:00:49 501889 Link 0 |
Big30 i dont think he was being ignorent, i think he wz just stating the facts.. The diference in quality between Junior and Senior sides is massive. i dont mean to disrespect any players from junior clubs but even the best players in junior clubs can only reach a certain potential because of the quality around them compared to playing senior football. And who on earth thinks that Benny McKenna and Dick Clerkin would put it upto the likes of Vinny Corey or J.P Mone in the middle of the field..not ta mention any of the other head to heads around the field.. Stick at the football lads!! cluiche09 (Monaghan) - Posts: 5 - 03/12/2009 14:32:23 501924 Link 0 |
rite lets sort this problem out for once and for all. gggg (Monaghan) - Posts: 225 - 03/12/2009 17:14:38 502076 Link 0 |
