Gaeltacht All Stars

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Out of the idleness of winter I've decided to put together a team of players from the Country's official Gaeltacht regions. We all know the 3 brothers from Ard a' Bhóthair, but when put together with the other players this is a serious team- is there an All-Ireland in them d'ye think? Feel free to add/remove any players & make any suggestions............. 1.Diarmuid Murphy- An Daingean/ Ciarraí 2.Anthony Lynch- Naomh Abán Baile Bhúirne/ Corcaigh 3.Tommy Griffin- An Daingean Ciarraí 4.Marc Ó Sé- An Ghaeltacht/ Ciarraí 5.Noel O'Leary- Cill na Martra/ Corcaigh 6.Tomás Ó Sé- An Ghaeltacht/Ciarraí 7.Ronán Ó Flatharta- An Ghaeltacht/ Ciarraí 8.Darragh Ó Sé- An Ghaeltacht/ Ciarraí 9.Kevin Cassidy- Gaoth Dobhair/ Dún na nGall 10.Declan O'Sullivan- Lios Póil/ Ciarraí 11.Declan O'Sullivan- Piarsaigh na Dromada/ Ciarraí 12.Billy Joe Padden- Béal a Mhuirthead/ Maigh Eo 13.Fiachra Breathnach- Leitir Mór/ An Ghaillimh 14.David Geaney- An Daingean/ Ciarraí 15.Liam Ó Lionnáin- Rinn Ua gCuanach/ Port Láirge I know that their are 8 from my own Corca Dhuibhne Gaeltacht but its my team an i can be biased if I want ;)

Rinneas ceann dóibh siúd oíche amháin sa theach tabhairne ach bhí cead againn dul thar n-ais go dtí na 70óidí leis. Bhí muintir Uí Shé i ngach áit ann!

Is maith liom d'fhoireann ach céard faoi buachaillí Dún na nGall? Agus céard faoi imreoirí ó contae eile ach le Gaeilge flúirseachar nós David Henry / Ger Breannan ó Áth Cliath nó an díreach muintir na Gaeltachta atá i gceist?

The three McGourty's would walk on to that team, and a few others from the Belfast Gaeltacht, possibly containing more Irish speakers than any other Gaeltacht area.

I had a similar thread there in May just when the Comórtas was about to begin. I wrote down a team which would top yours i'd say as i had players from all ages.
Since when is Darren ó Sullivan a gaeltacht player????????

I'll give it a go anyhow.

1. Diarmaid ó Murchú - Ciarraí
2. Marc ó Sé - Ciarraí
3. Niall McGee - Dún na nGall
4. Antóine o Loinsigh - Corcaigh
5. Tomás ó Sé - Ciarraí
6. Caoimhín ó Casaide - Dún na nGall
7. Gareth Bráidseach - Gaillimh
8. Dara ó Sé - Ciarraí
9. Tomás ó Gríofa - Ciarraí
10. Cillín de Paor - Gaillimh
11. Déaglán Ó Súilleabháin - Ciarraí
12. Rónán ó Flatharta - Ciarraí
13. Graham Mac Oireachtaigh (too old??) / Fiachra Breathnach - An Mhí / Gaillimh
14. Micheál O'hEigceartaigh - Dún na nGall
15. Liam ó Lionnáin - Port Láirge

Now please try to post an All-Time great 15. Should be a bit of craic, goodluck!!

It would seem that you are.

You see I LIVED at the bottom of Shaws Road in Andersonstown and noticed this development which grew.

If the link does not work Google Shaw's Road Gaeltacht.

You could also Google Bunscoil Belfast, to see the LARGE number of Irish Language schools in the City.

Now Duffy, what made you think I might be spoofing? I mean ME? Spoof?
