With cashel and carrickedmond both moving up to senior and no team moving down to intermediate, who are the favourites for next years intermediate championship? any suggestions? patmcgee (Longford) - Posts: 520 - 25/11/2009 17:52:54 493976 Link 0 |
St Columbas would be clear favourites if they get relegated but was it not 1 up 1 down for the Senior Championship this year or do the Division 2 winners go up to Division 1 as well with Carrickedmond winning that?? kasbah_bliss (Longford) - Posts: 41 - 25/11/2009 19:14:03 494069 Link 0 |
The county board want a 16 team senior championship. St Columbas wouldnt have gone down without a big fight anyway. i think carrickedmond are going up as runners up of this years championship patmcgee (Longford) - Posts: 520 - 25/11/2009 21:27:43 494195 Link 0 |
So St. Columbas, Carrickedmond and Cashel will all be senior next year? SonicDHedgehog (Longford) - Posts: 150 - 26/11/2009 10:13:04 494554 Link 0 |

Yeah intermediate isnt very competitive as is the same teams get to the quarter finals every year its gonna be shockin this year. easier to win it though wit less competion patmcgee (Longford) - Posts: 520 - 26/11/2009 17:05:58 495065 Link 0 |
With Only 8 intermediate teams is it any suprise the sames teams make quarter finals every year ...like duh! hanley (Longford) - Posts: 143 - 26/11/2009 17:31:05 495115 Link 0 |
Yeah the eight intermediate teams always make the quarter finals. none of the senior teams second string intermediate teams ever do i hardly see the point in having them in the championship at all. let them all play junior. Bosco1937 (Longford) - Posts: 185 - 26/11/2009 19:03:38 495239 Link 0 |

Wait till next year, this year turned out bad as we'd lads away and loads of injuries. hanley (Longford) - Posts: 143 - 26/11/2009 23:04:35 495614 Link 0 |
yea i know.the same 8 teams make it every year thats why its not competitive and obviously their expected to beat the 2nd string teams and always do. patmcgee (Longford) - Posts: 520 - 26/11/2009 23:27:40 495653 Link 0 |
Well heres my proposal so relegate all the intermediate teams to junior. Reglegate 8 senior teams to intermediate and then have 8 senior teams left. hanley (Longford) - Posts: 143 - 28/11/2009 12:04:13 496760 Link 0 |
Funnily enough thats actually not a bad idea seeing as there are really two tiers in senior at the moment. not sure if i fancy playin junior though seeing as my club happens to be intermediate at the moment patmcgee (Longford) - Posts: 520 - 28/11/2009 20:21:14 497121 Link 0 |
What your team ya must be fairable confident of winning it considering you said it'd be easier to win it in an earlier post? hanley (Longford) - Posts: 143 - 28/11/2009 21:01:39 497171 Link 0 |
Id say we'll have a very good shot if we get it together even if carrickedmond stay down cause we seen what cashel did to them in the intermediate final im not sure their fit for senior. but its very open if ya look at the division two table cashel and carrickedmond wer out in front but the other five teams kenagh, killashee, ballymore, legan and grattens theres not much between them if cashel and carrick are up it will be the most open championship for years patmcgee (Longford) - Posts: 520 - 28/11/2009 22:08:00 497232 Link 0 |

Can second teams of Senior clubs play in the intermediate in 2010, I am thinking of Killoe, Dromard etc.. ? acomeon (Longford) - Posts: 82 - 23/12/2009 13:39:25 521363 Link 0 |
They can but they don't have to so I'd say most senior teams will enter there strongest team in the junior and maybe a third string in the intermediate. hanley (Longford) - Posts: 143 - 02/01/2010 15:37:57 522925 Link 0 |
This championship will be far more competitive than the senior. there is not much between the teams. I think that grattans could be the team to watch out for. they have always been in the 1/4, semi for the past number of years. they lost a number of key players at the begging of last year but seem to have bounced back to be a stronger side. they have also made a few interesting a additions to the squad. former player Donal Kane has taken over, first time in a number of years they have a proper manager in place. 4score (Longford) - Posts: 16 - 15/02/2010 15:16:26 561850 Link 0 |
