Jealous men, Gall's for All Ireland. Was at their game there on Sunday, noticed during the warm up a huge substitute they had, dark hair, wasn't Darren O'Hare, any galls men know him, must be a midfielder/Full back? Looked the part.

St Galls are not packed with outsiders! there are 2 fermanagh men who work in belfast although apparently rory has now moved back to fermanagh. 13 of the team is belfast and im sure the subs are as well. they dont need gallagher although he is clearly a superb addition. karl stewart wud come in and play and he is hardly a poor player!in goal im sure they could have someone else who wouldnt embarrass them. They are a class outfit and i think some people are just jealous of their success.

Sam02 : What's your view on that fella Kieran McGeeney playing for that Dublin club Na Fianna, he was even made captain of the Armagh side for doing so ! Would you've prevented him playing for Armagh and hand back Sam because of it? I'm sure you wouldn't, I wouldn't, a great footballer.
And I see you use "team packed with outsiders ", that's 2 of the starters, similar to CheFinny statement; please don't be so emotional and stick to the facts. I take it you would ban most of the Dublin teams from championship football and have all the "foreign" players take up soccer/rugby/baseball/knitting.
Well done again to St Galls and all those Belfast and wantabe Belfast lads, keep on roll'n.

I don't understand these arguments. SO what if hey weren't born and bred in the parish. Should north belfast men be barred from playing for west belfast teams?

North Belfast men should for the good of the GAA in North Belfast play for their own teams. End of.

Saffron in Dub, far off the mark and only trying to muddy the waters, Kieran Mc Geeney was captain of Ard Mhaca before he played for Na Fainna, and why wouldnt he, he choose them as he was living and working in Dublin, more than can be said for two players from Fermanagh ... Clontibret take note.

Flankie i don't give a fiddlers what happens in the West but even i know that the GAA in North belfast is dying even though there is a huge Nationalist population and a fair bit of money in parts of the area. If lads are flocking from North Belfast to play for the clubs in the west how will it ever begin to thrive. I doubt there are very many even making the move though because i have heard the schools are not interested in the National games.

Anyone know who the ref is for the Ulster final?

I know the venue is Newry with the St. Galls v Loup game to be preceded by St. Teresa's (antrim) v Lavey (cavan) in the junior final. Should get a good crowd of neutrals at it from Down and Armagh.

The Gaa is most certainly not dying in north Belfast. Sterling work is being done at underage level in St Enda's, Pearse's and the St. Malachy's College junior school teams and I can assure that there is not an ninflux of northerners to west Belfast clubs. St. Enda's juvenile memembership is growing by the year so much so that there is now work for a second pitch commencing. St. Malachy's meanwhile are concentrating on developing their junior school teams and are taking a Gaelic football squad to Anerica next year. There is a prevailing British attitude in north Belfast i.e. preferring soccer and calling teams like Manchester United "we" coupled with a lack of facilities which has been discussed in a previous thread. As mentioned a lot of people are striving to correct this and realise north Belfast's true GAA potenial.

well worked out Galled, did you not think of all the Southern shoppers who invade Newry on A Sunday as well, those "unpatriotic people" that Mr Cowan talks about, and then there will be the huge Fermanagh contingent arriving to support their players on the Galls team .
